Great Boots
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These are my most favorite hiking boots - they never need to be broken in. They are so comfortable. This is, however, the 2nd pair of boots I've worn for a very short period and the inside seem near the back of the achilles (spelling?) comes apart (shredding).

Steens Leather Waterproof Boot
I've had these boots for about three months and they're well-made and comfortable. I agree with others that this boot may run a bit small; go a half size up. I probably wouldn't have risked buying boots I'd not tried on if they were any other brand than Keen. They were also a very reasonable price. Steens are a bit more narrow than other Keen models but my wide feet are comfortable in them walking fifteen miles at a time. I'm an urban hiker; walking is how I get to where I need to go. My footgear is essential equipment and I can't afford bad shoes.

Best hiking boots I’ve purchased
From day one these have been a super comfortable pair of boots, and they he’d up extremely well to being worn everyday for my seasonal job with the park’s service.

Strong, comfortable, and protective
These boots are very durable and can handle different climates with just plain socks on. I have hiked the Rocky Mountains, Smoky Mountains, glaciers in Alaska, and trails in Alaska. All have been successes because of the versatility of the boot. Comfortable enough to wear as a day shoe as well to utilize the waterproof feature as well.

Not made to last
Sadly after less than a year one of my boots split where the boot meets the sole and seam stitching came undone. Contacted Keen to see they could repair and they have no repair policy. Super disappointed given the “sustainability” aspect of the Keen brand. After 8 months of wear they will go to landfill. :( Not so keen on Keens anymore!

Seams split all around
So, I've never had a pair of hiking boots do this. I look after my boots and I'm not hard on my feet. I bought them a while back from Go Outdoors and didn't wear them at first as I was still wearing my older boots therefore can't bring them back. After wearing them maybe 10 times I noticed the seam split at the join to the sole, just the brown outer layer. Closer inspection shows it's all the way round. I'm gutted. They're comfortable and LOOK sturdy but have others found this too?

Best boots ever!
Fit like a charm and comfortable as if they were made for my foot. I would highly recommend.

Just not the same
So, I'm wearing these boots daily and they are acceptable. But NOT the Keen comfort I've grown to expect over many years of dedicated daily wear. After buying and returning several pairs over the last year I became desperate and ordered the Same ones I've been wearing over the last two years. The only difference was I ordered a half size bigger based on the previous attempts. These boots, despite being half size bigger than the two year old version, measure 1/8" narrower all around. I'd expect it to be slightly bigger accounting for the half size UP. The length is a touch longer, but not the 1/6" I'd expect for a true half size difference. The heel does not have equal structure, so my heel slips and feels poorly supported. They are also now made in a different country. The water proofing is good. All in all, it took four different orders from Keen to find an okay boot. I will be looking for a different brand in the future. Dear Keen, please bring back your old quality and fit. It is sorely missed by many loyal wearers.

Steens need to be worn with gaiters
I have worn Keens for years and find them extremely comfortable for everyday hiking. However when I wear the Steens, I’ve found that forest debris flicks up and collects in around the ankle inside the boot - the only shoe I’ve had this issue with. It makes for a messy hike and very dirty socks. The very wide fitting opening cannot be cinched in enough to keep out debris.

Ok
The insoles could better for the price you pay for these shoes. If you have bunions the toe box is not wide enough, especially if you wear thicker hiking socks. I really love the color and style. They are on the heavy side, feet do sweat in heavier socks, bit they are water proof.
