Completely worthless

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I sought this lighter out as a greener, higher-quality alternative to disposable lighters for starting wood fires, grills, gas fireplaces, etc. It feels like a quality item in the hand--it's sturdy and feels well built. Unfortunately it's worthless. I filled this up with high quality butane and waited the recommended four hours. On first activation it shot a flame out nearly a foot from the lighter. A hissing sound continued for nearly 10 seconds, as compressed air and fuel continued to be expelled from the lighter. This is how the lighter works: one click starts a period of air and fuel shooting out, which cannot be stopped by releasing the trigger. Yes, that's right: fuel continues to shoot out of the lighter when you click it and it doesn't light. After that, the lighter would not light again for many, many clicks, while the lighter spewed compressed air and butane the whole time. Eventually, I got the lighter to light and maintain a blue flame… which, honest to God, lasted several seconds before the fuel ran out. I refilled the lighter and repeated this pattern several times. Like I said, worthless. I would love to have the time back that I spent trying to get this thing to work.
