The HOKA ONE ONE Speedgoat 4 GTX Trail Running Shoe handles a little bit of rain and then some, thanks to its waterproof, breathable GORE-TEX membrane and Vibram Megagrip outsole. Pouring rain and mid-trail puddles don't even drench our socks with the full waterproof bootie design, while 5mm Megagrip lugs ensure that even wet surfaces don't catch us slipping on the trail. This trail runner features greater heel support and a more supportive midfoot design, keeping our feet cradled and stabilized even when we're darting around roots and rocks.

These are really well made shoes and suitable for walking and trail run. I can tell these aren't for road running after testing them in person.

I just bought the Speed Goat 4 and absolutely love them! I've tried most major brands over the years (Solomon, Vasque, Merrill), and these are by far the best. I feel like I'm walking on marshmallows, and they have a firm sole for trails. I have held off buying these because of the dorky colors. I checked my vane-ness and ordered a pair. They are ugly as hell and look like shoes that were paint splashed with every bright neon color available. I really wish they would offer them in normal colors. When I wear these I feel like I should be wearing those lame wrap around Oakley sunglasses and skin tight neon colored clothing. I normally wear a size 10 and ordered these in a 10.5 and they are perfect. Love these shoes!!

I usually wear Hokas to rest my feet. I hike with a pair of Salomon X Ultra 3. As snow season comes along, my feet start to feel the stress from bouldering, snowboarding so I wear Hokas. But this model seemed like a good candidate to take up my training trail. It is not an easy one. Ultra runners train there constantly. I am not one of them but this gives an idea of the effort involved. I did the lower half which is a straight up, leg burner ascending and really loose soil toboggan descending. The shoes are light, with enough cushioning to keep the vibrations from reverberating up the body and good traction on the way down. The only unknown is how much they could last. And volume, the side effect of the cushioning is the bulkier sole, the Salomons are more streamlined so one can be less careful where to place the feet.
