HOKA Hopara 2 Sandal

Feels like a sandal, functions like a hiker. Equally at home by land or water, the Hopara 2 tackles mud, dirt, and rocks with the same amphibian-like ease. Reconceived with earth-conscious materials, we’ve implemented a 30% sugarcane topsole & midsole, 100% recycled knit upper, and 100% recycled Cordura® mesh overlays to allow for water drainage while keeping trail debris at bay. Engineered with a toggle lace, adjustable heel strap, and quick-dry water repellency, there’s no need to take your shoes off at the next creek crossing.

Solidly okay hikers

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Bought these two weeks ago for a rafting trip down the grand canyon. For hiking purposes these are perfect, lightweight, comfortable, and grippy. As a sandal or water-shoe however, these come up short in several ways: 1. The cordura mesh prevents any debris (including sand) from exiting the shoe through the sides 2. The holes in the heel sucked in rocks like no other water shoe I have ever worn 3. The heel cup, while great for hiking support, prevented debris from draining out the heel holes 4. The heel pull tab on one shoe disintegrated within two days of use
