River banks and river bottoms both offer their challenges to anglers, which is why we like the Grundens Bankside Wading Boot. This boot features waterproof nubuck leather uppers with high-cut ankle collars to support us as we bushwhack through brush to the reach river and also navigate underwater hazards as we sneak up on brookies and brownies. The traction also impresses with Vibram Idrogrip rubber—with wet surface grip that's especially made for fly fishing—and soles that are also compatible with Grunden's HEXAGRIP alloy cleat and stud system (sold separately) to dig into extra slick river bottoms.

Excellent Traction and Comfort
I'm a 20+ year Simms G3 boot owner. After my third pair wore out I decided to try Grundens Bankside Wading Boots. I read the reviews regarding their cleat system and decided to apply Aquaseal to each cleat and stud location prior to mounting. I then followed the mounting directions and avoided over tightening. I've now used the boots for 5 day long walk/wade freestone trips where I walked about 3-4 miles each day and I'm pleased with their comfort and performance. I did not lose a cleat or stud nor did I slip while wading. I believe Grundens has created a strong competitor to Simms and others. Well done, especially for the price.

The last wading boot you’ll ever need
Put these boots through the wringer guiding in the Alaskan Bush this summer, I can’t say enough good things about them. Wearing them every single day, 8-10 hours a day for 4 months and they held up great. Better than any other wading boot I’ve owned. Super comfortable and grippy. The two things I’ve noticed that could be improved are that they take forever to dry out if not in direct sunlight, there is also no removable footbed and the top layer of fabric is starting to slide around inside the boot.

So far I have hiked around 40 miles in these boots and I am very satisfied with their performance. High cuffs provide great ankle support. Robust tread. Laces slip smoothly through eyelets. Material is fairly supple, not rock-hard, and easy to get foot into and tighten down. Compares favorably to the other big-name brand but for a better price point.

Excellent Boot
Great fit and comfortable under foot - exterior material is strong and sturdy. I enjoy wearing these when either wading flats or surf casting over slippery NE rocky shoreline.

Very impressed with quality
Used these on a slick river with clients using felt. The plain rubber (wanted to see how it gripped) was good but not as good as felt. Will try with studs in the future but otherwise was good enough to use. Loved the quality of the boot. Great support on ankles and the sole was sturdy enough on the rocks to not bend and twist. Really happy with this boot and would love to see a felt version in the future. This is the best wading boot I have worn.

Comfy Boots
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Really comfortable wading boot - I walked in these for several miles a day on my last trip to Alaska and they were comfortable and durable. Highly recommended.

Very comfortable.
Grundens did an awesome job with these boots. They have great range of motion while providing plenty of ankle support. The Hexagrip system with the combo of aluminum and carbide has kept me dry from unintentionally swims. The only downside is that they take awhile to dry out. So be careful when putting away.

Wading boots
Boots are comfortable, rugged and well made. On a recent trip to Chile the boots held up very well on all sorts of river bottoms.

Most Comfortable Boot Ever
I've been fishing most of my life an guiding professionally for 15 years. This is the most comfortable boot I've ever had, and I have worn a lot of boots. Tested them on a notoriously slippery steelhead river and was blown away at the traction. Great job Grundens!!
