With a cavernous 6102 cubic inches of space, the Gregory Denali 100 Backpack is designed for long alpine climbs, week-long Alaskan glacier trips, and gear-intensive expeditions. It's nearly identical to the Denali 75, but it'll be the better choice when we leave civilization behind for a week to ski big lines and climb big walls from a remote basecamp. To keep Denali light, Gregory designed the Denali with a lighter 210D nylon fabric and hooked it up with 420D high-density reinforcements where they are needed most. A puncture-resistant, internally laminated front panel protects against ice axes, crampons, and ski edges, while the 630D high-density nylon base saves the bottom of the pack from rock and ice. There's also a dual-entry pocket on the front panel that can hold crampons or a shell for easy access.
Gregory fitted the pack with its top-of-the-line Fusion Flex Pro suspension to keep it comfortable when weighed down with expedition-grade loads. The system is composed of two 7075 aluminum frame stays that can be removed to lighten the load, as well as a sewn-in frame sheet for additional support and to prevent gear from poking through. A tubular cross-stay prevents the bag from collapsing and bunching when weighed down with a heavy load, and the high-density EVA foam padding at the shoulders, back, and hip pads ensure a comfortable fit. There's a removable bivy pad concealed in the back panel, and the hip belt can also be removed when we're really trying to go fast and light in the high alpine.

Most uncomfortable shoulder straps
I bought this pack a month ago, and have been training with 65 pounds in it. The shoulder straps are terrible, dig in and very uncomfortable. I can’t imagine going up Denali worrying about so much pain in the shoulders. I used the same amount of weight in my Osprey 50 L pack prior to this, with no pain. That pack was just too small in terms of overall capacity for Denali so I bought this one, which was recommended by the guide service. I regret this.

Great Ruck, lots of space, very comfortable
This ruck is huge, can literally fit the kitchen sink. The straps and adjustments are great to get it to fit just right, and it is very comfortable even at 80lbs. It is lacking on some side pockets and accessibility features but not. a big deal if you know how to pack and put the things you need where you need em. Best for those longer 7+ day hikes, anything less than 5 days this thing is overkill.

Gregory owner for a long time This is a great pac!
I have owned this pack for a few years. I have the The Denali Pro which this pack, replaced. It has been said that the original makes a list of ultimate "Bests" in camping gear of all types under large packs. I wanted to have both and my kids have a Boltoro and a Diva. This pack rivals it's forerunner and in some ways can outperforms it. Don't let the condition fool you, they have been used, just not abused. WOG

Nice design, poor construction
I bought this pack less than 1-year ago and the sternum strap loops are being torn away by the metal sternum strap fasteners. Why this design is metal on material is boggling - but a fatal design, nonetheless.

Wilderness guide pack
I really like this pack. I am a 5’5 and 130 lb female wilderness therapy guide. The pack is great because I can fit everything into it (even an additional food bag). The pockets are the downfall of this pack. The side pockets don’t really hold anything if your pack is stuffed- you have to strap anything you can squeeze in there down with the straps. Overall great pack because it’s light and supportive and super comfortable.

Holds ALOT of stuff. And does it comfortably
Great pack, loads easy, tons of access options and storage types. Straps are well made and easily accessible to adjust your load if needed depending on the terrain or fatigue. I fit the following with out issue: 10.2 x 60m rope Double Rack up to #6, Including hexes 20 Draws, 10 singles, 6 doubles, 4 triples 20ft x 9mm anchor with 6 lockers Harness, Shoes, Chalk, Jacket Sleeping bag and Bivy Food and 4L water Strapped Additional 2L water to outside Only reason I have to complain is it didn’t come with a rain cover...

Much larger than expected.
So I really like this pack so many storage areas good fit. This pack would be good for some one much taller than 6 foot. Tons of padding to make it comfortable. The reason for this rating is simply the size of the pack makes me take extra crap with me on my trips. This will be great for our great alaskan hike we are planning. Might have to get a 65l for my shorter hikes (under 7 days). Great build solid pack recommend it just want you to understand the size.

Perfect pack for big trips
This pack is amazing. I packed two fully loaded bear canisters and other gear and still had room for more during a 4 day backpack in Aspen. This pack is super comfortable and distributes weight really well. It has so many pockets and loops and useful things. This will for sure be my pack for Aconcagua next winter!

Just used the Denali 100 for first time on a day hike and found one small strap (laying on floor) with an aluminum hook fitting on one end and a male buckle fitting on the other. Where does this go and is there a second one that I may have lost? Thanks
