Great Way to Control the Camera: Needs Other Mounting Options
I recently purchased a Hero 11 Black and the Smart Remote. The remote made controlling the camera so much easier. I've tried using the app on my smartphone, but when one is riding a motorcycle, focusing on the smartphone screen is not smart. I recently used the camera to document my ride up the Mt Washington Auto road. The remote worked great. I would love to see a mounting system so that I can mount the Smart Remote to a point near my clutch hand.

Awesome remote EXCEPT for one critical fail — it is NOT waterproof!!!
This remote is excellent IF you don't plan to use it for anything involving water. It is decidedly NOT waterproof!! TLDR summary: • 5 stars for functionality • NEGATIVE 1 star for the epic fail on the "waterproof" claim • overall 2 star for my purposes, which are primarily water-borne details: I doubted the waterproofness of this remote from the time I first opened it based on the flimsy cover over the USB-C charge port, but it clearly says "waterproof to 16ft (5m)" in product descriptions, so I figured I'd give it a shot. My very first time using it on the water it failed miserably. I didn't subject it to any high-speed wipeouts, nor deep submersion, nor prolonged submersion. I only submerged it briefly a few times, pretty gently, to maybe 1 or 2 feet max — basically treading water for 5 or 10 seconds with it on my wrist. After that it started behaving VERY strangely: it would miss button-presses; it would randomly start and stop my GoPro recording when I wasn't pressing any buttons; it would randomly disconnect from my GoPro and re-connect with it. All of this was in dry air AFTER submersion, not during. Most infuriatingly, when I tried to turn it off it'd just turn itself back on, EVERY TIME, and turn my GoPro on in the process too! The only way I finally got it to stop was by pulling the GoPro's battery and letting the remote run its own battery down to empty over a couple days. Then after drying the remote thoroughly (150°F bake cycle in my toaster-oven for a few hours, followed by a few days of letting it sit in a dry room, all with the charge-port cover open) and then charging it again, it now seems to work fine. So now I have to try to figure out a waterproof cover for this thing so I can use it on the water. VERY frustrating. GoPro knows how to make things waterproof!! WHAT were they thinking with this remote?? The claim of "waterproof to 16ft (5m)" is complete crap. It's especially frustrating because, compared to the old "Smart Remote", this new remote is an enormous improvement in all respects EXCEPT the epic fail on waterproofness. Battery life and connectivity reliability is dramatically improved over the old Smart Remote which was awful in those respects. But the old Smart Remote was truly rugged and waterproof. This one is NOT.

Third hand
I use both Hero 8 and 10 front and back on my bicycle and found a tip for connecting is turn cameras on first then 20 or so seconds later turn remote on. Then shows Multiple cams. Remote is strapped to bike with strap that comes with it and always there. Blaming Gopro for dropping remote? Use the Strap! Remember to shut down remote first to use the app. Easy to use and see strapped to bike top tube front between my legs. Screen tells me if its recording or paused. Would hope it woks with Max?

Good from afar, but far from good
I have a Hero 7 (not compatible with this which is fine), a Hero 9, Hero 11, and (2) Hero 12s. I shoot multicam of my band and other local bands. I bought this to turn the cameras off and on from stage at the same time, to greatly improve my workflow. Imagine my disappointment when the remote can't do multicam with the Hero 12s. GoPro admits it doesn't work if you go digging and looking for other people having the problem, but they certainly don't let you know before you buy it. Highly doubt they'll ever fix it, so it just sits in the camera case, a waste of cash.

Works Great
Works really well. The battery lasts forever , it has a nice connection range, and it is easy to use. Used it on the Hero 12🤙👍

Multi cam mode doesn’t work with GoPro 12
Super disappointed that the got pro 12 does not work with the remote. Well, it does, but once the cameras shut off and you go to power and back on with the remote the GoPro 12 does not recognize the remote anymore and you have to re pair it every time. Works fine with my GoPro 10 and 11 though.

Screen lasted less than 1.5 years
I received the remote as a gift for Christmas 2022 and loved using it while skiing. Unfortunately during a Ski trip in early March 2024, the pixels in the screen started to fail and then became unusable a few days later. I reached out to see about a replacement or getting it fixed, but was told the 1-year warranty had expired and fixing the screen would likely cost more than buying a new remote. I was offered a discount code for my troubles, but this 15% off was only for new cameras. UNACCEPTABLE!

Remote is great but functionality of the strap is limited for
I got this remote to use while snowboarding. The strap is way too small to go around my wrist when jacket is on. Make strap with a greater length and adjustment to solve for one of the key use cases.

GoPro lies that this works with GP12, it doesn't. DON'T BUY!
The remote does not work with the latest GP12 even though it's advertised it does. You cannot use multicam with a GP12 and any other GP. The remote will wipe out all the settings and refuse to work. This is a known defect GoPro knows about and isn't working to fix.
