Alta 80 Portable Fridge

Fragile on the outside Mega functionality inside!

Overall I like the functionality of the refrigerator and freezer options, especially compared to the power consumption with a yeti 1000. It works exactly as described. However, I have found the exterior components to be rather fragile and have had pieces of plastic break off with minimal Force applied. I also find the edges to be rather Pointed. similar models Have rounder edges and I believe would pack much easier. I believe that many users will often pack this device with a lot of other camping gear.

Works as advertised

We've had this for 2 weeks and it's great for our business. The reason it doesn't get a 5 star is because we bought from the competitor and what this lack is an integrated power system. We get it though. The Company was probably trying to cut some weight since it's pretty hefty even when it's empty. Still a great buy and works as advertised.

Could be a game changer!

I haven’t used this in the field yet but works wonderfully so far. Quick chilling and quiet. The duel compartments with individual controls is what had me choose this model.

Impressive efficiency and build.

I'll start by saying that I've had the Alta 80 for 2-weeks and have done some controlled environment testing. That said, the unit is in my garage which holds at about 80*-not heated just warm here in Grand Junction CO. this time of year. First test was without the cover, totally empty, left side set at 0* and right side at 35*, and averaged just under 2amps/hour. Next test with the cover which helps considerably in power consumption as it was then using 1.7amps/hour. Then I added a 10lb. bag of ice to the freezer side and nothing in the fridge side. It dropped down to 1.6amps/hour. I imagine once the fridge side is fully loaded it will be even more efficient. It does have a slight hum while running but then becomes silent when compressor shuts off. I will be using this in my camper van in a couple weeks and I imagine my nighttime power consumption will drop due to cooler nights camping. Additionally, likely increase consumption during the daytime hours due to warmer in vehicle temps. Perhaps it will be a wash. The cooler itself is solid and well thought out design. The spring loaded handles are no joke! The spring action is strong-keep children hands clear of this. The lids lock/hold into place at the top after lifting, the lights are super nice, the locking latches are solid. I will update this review after being in real world use for a month or so. This gent did two great test videos (Battle of the bougie fridges) on the efficiency of 3-different units and by his results, the Goal Zero blows away the others. Additionally, I like that GZ headquarters are just down the road(4-hours) which is confidence inspiring being in the southwest.

I had surgery to repair a fully severed patellar tendon in May and I was not going to miss my son’s three-night scout camp in July. Using the Alta 80 and a yeti 1500 power station, even in the trunk of a bagillion degree suv, for four days in the middle of summer I had constant access to ice cold cold packs to keep the swelling on my knee down. Thank you. If I may recommend an upgrade possibility- add the ability to turn one side off completely to further extend the life while on battery power.

This Alta 80 fridge is perfect out in the field. We paired it with the Yeti 700 and it ran for a couple days without a recharge!

5 day trip success

When I saw the box on my porch I knew I was in over my head. It's definitely a two person carry but I was very surprised at the actual weight being manageable even filled with food. I've used it just as a fridge both side for a few weeks before camping dispersed in over 100+ heat .in-between meals we kept the Alta mostly out of the sun and with its cover zipped. Camping we used the left side as a freezer, use the baskets it allows the air to circulate around. We overnight froze some friends ice packs and they got an extra day for their cooler items. Mostly used 40 ish watts when running 1 watt when in idle. Very impressed with our experience.. We used a yeti 3000x to power the Alta for 5 whole days using one side as a freezer and still had around 30% battery left. Soo much space we couldn't have eaten any fancier. Love love love this thing. I'll be making it a wheeled cart this weekend.
