Why We Like The Garmin inReach Mini 2
The inReach Mini 2 gives us the same compact communication means as its predecessor but now with loads more battery life and features. Rather than lasting hours, it lasts days, letting us use it for much more than just check-ins on our multi-day missions. With the new ability to sync with Garmin Explorer, we can plan our course on the computer screen and save it to this palm-sized device. As we venture well beyond cell coverage, the new electronic compass gives us an accurate heading as we stand still, while the addition of Galileo gives us a quicker and more precise satellite lock, even with some tree cover. If we get turned around, the addition of TracBack routing helps us find our way.

Solid Device
I purchased the inReach Mini 2 about 6 weeks ago. Setup, activation, and plan purchase was an easy, straight forward process. I also ended up getting the Outdoor Map+ subscription. I've only taken it out once, but it performed as advertised in an area with zero cellular coverage. Recommend adding contacts info and additional check in messages prior to your adventure. But, so far, so good.

Easy to use and works well
I love the features. I use it for tracking when I am riding my motorcycle, especially when in remote areas. This last weekend I used it for the first time and really liked the fact that you can test it before leaving so you know it is connected and working. Then when the tracking is turned on, it gives feedback on how often it pings with the Satellite. Very comforting to get home and see the last time it pinged on the tracking feature and to know it is working. I used a different brand prior to this purchase and there were many times I thought it was tracking and it was not. The Garmin is sooooo much better.

Defective
Unfortunately I had to return my inReach Mini2 because it was defective. The up/down menu buttons quit working.

Peace of mind, navigation & critical emergency device
Will work anywhere. SOS function works without a subscription. Learning from many other hikers' experiences, this can be the only way to get life-saving help. I sometimes bring it on remote drives, and always on long xc excursions. Route tracking is another great safety feature. My family appreciates notifications during my long hikes, and I don't worry about them calling SAR when I'm late!

Like the device, trouble with software.
The device is exactly what I need for active hiking and outdoor activities in my 70's. Happy with the size and function of the device. The set up software was very difficult to use. My daughter has an InReach and has set hers up; she helped but also had trouble. With a full day of effort we were finally able to get everything working.

Easy to use!
Received as a Christmas gift... Setup was very easy. Instructions were clear and simple. Hardest part was choosing a "plan". Works as advertised in remote areas with zero cell service. Will be a big comfort to my family when I do backcountry rides. Advertised battery life seems pretty amazing! If you're looking for something simple, but effective, this device will fit the bill!
