Does the job
This is my 4th Garmin since the OG Forerunner 205 in 2009. Each Garmin has lasted me 4-5 years averaging 60 miles a month. This one though is fancier than the rest, still gets the job done. I don’t need one with bells and whistles (smart watch). This watch has all the basics of a running watch down. The music connectivity is quick. Easy to use watch too.

Garmin vs. Apple Watch
I contemplated this for months and finally pulled the trigger. I’ve had the 165 Music for about a month now and I’m still psyched about it. Garmin has a much better interface for fitness data and the race time predictions is a really cool feature. The ONLY draw back is it isn’t as seem less to your phone (using talk to text or taking calls), but as someone who prefers minimal phone usage throughout the day it’s not a problem.

Good Watch
I bought this not too long ago and i like it for the most part. It’s a bit janky and i think Garmin can still do better. I have both an Apple Watch and a Garmin and i still think the Apple Watch is a little bit better made. So happy with the colors but you guys should sell more expensive looking bands as well.

Overall really great
Extremely useful insights and recommendations. Amazing battery life. Waterproof. Don't love that you need 2 apps on your phone and the watch faces leave something to be desired. Can't figure out how to link my headphones but haven't tried much and more than likely user error. Overall pretty user friendly. Wish you could play music from the watch speaker. Would buy again.

Functional but Music iffy when running
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
Love this little watch, but when I play music and record a run the music connection to my earbuds is very spotty, which sort of defeats the purpose of me buying this version versus the non music one.

Malfunctioning after two days
Stuck on Run mode even after powering off three times. Touch screen not working for some functions. From other reviews I’ve read, it’s also glitchy for others. Too expensive for that. Plan to return it to the store.

Much brighter screen!
I purchased the Forerunner 165 Music because my previous Forerunner was showing its age. I wanted to be sure I had a functioning Garmin before the old one shut down for the last time. I am pleased overall with the Forerunner 165 Music and particularly like the much brighter screen which is now more readable in sunlight. Set up was fairly easy and straightforward if you have experience with Garmin. A few minor annoyances like at the end of a run when saving the data needing to tell respond I don't want to answer the question about level of effort and how did I feel every time. I clicked on the arrows saying to skip these questions and it held for a few times but now is back. Minor annoyance but still wish it would "go away". The silicone band is the same as previous and I could not wait to get rid of it as I have with previous watches. Wish Garmin would provide more alternative band options as silicone and leather do not work for me.
