Great Fit and Features
I bought this pair of pants about a month ago and used it for hiking about 3-4 times. Its excellent in terms of its durability. Really like the accesible pockets. The newer fit is better!

Impressive quality but odd fitment
The quality of these trousers is immediately apparent when you first put them on. Stitching, hardware, pockets, and all the little details feel very well made and constructed. That being said, I would highly recommend you size up in the waist. The G-1000 material on these trousers is not meant to stretch, so the 44 (29") fits very tight around the waist and thighs. For reference, I am 5'6" / 140-150lbs and usually wear size 29/30 pants. A 46 (30") offers more room but definitely feels a little large. If you're going to order these online make sure you're prepared to make a return or exchange - can't stress enough how odd the sizing is.

Well designed, worth the extra
Have a couple of pair of these trousers, been involved with outdoor activities for over 35 years, worn and tried every type of trouser from army surplus to baggies. These are close to the most expensive trousers I've had but must say are the most comfortable, best fitting and practical trousers I can remember owning. Great trousers

High quality for excessive labor in the woods
I work in the mountains of Montana, logging daily. Using these pants that have been quite impressive and how they hold up. Hiking steep hills, bucking trees, hard labor, and I have been most impressed with the quality of these pants.

Rear View
Do Norwegians have no behind? I am an average guy with glutious averagous, and boy is the articulation poor. I.e tight. I mean, they look so pretty. And cost so pretty. They must be... Mostly pretty. A minor lean forward and the consequent rear squeeze tells you all about the thought actually put into the pantaloons.

Cool pants weak threads
I've worn my pair maybe 15 times for lights use (hiking, camping, and casual) and the threads around the pocket have started to come undone. I was so excited to have a pair, but regret the 200+ purchase due to poor durability.

No longer "long"
If "improved" means shorter length and narrower cuff, then yes, they are improved. Someone at corporate decided to cut corners, very disappointed. If you are tall and/or have big feet, don't bother.

Perfectly designed(with additional wax) for Alaska
I work as a hiking guide in Alaska, and a Safari guide in South Africa. Purchased these pants two months ago with the idea of using them as rain pants for our wetter Alaskan days. They have been excellent! Incredibly important to note is that you have to wax them yourself. They might come "pre-waxed" but if so you can barely tell. Buy yourself a couple bars of Greenland wax, get a hair dryer, set aside a few hours, do a thorough job and these pants won't fail you. Also important to note. When it comes to gear these days people always want "the best of the best". Meaning that even if you're not summiting Everest or Denali people want to wear gore tex this and PFC that. These pants (fully waxed) were designed for Arctic and subarctic tundra climate. For what we get here in Alaska they are absolutely perfect. If you're moving through monsoon rains for days at a time these pants will fail you. They weren't designed for those conditions - and honestly even goretex leaks when exposed to persistent rain. For light showers, walking through wet bush and forest, or short downpours they work excellent. Very comfortable and so far so good with the stitching and riveting. I'm a size 32/32. Purchased a 34/32 and it fits great. I usually purchase pants one side up for extra mobility.

Not a fan of the improved fit
I am an athletic man 173 cm and 68 Kg with a 27/28 inch waist. I ordered a 30 inch short pair of trousers. The seat is too high/tight and if the trousers were an inch longer they would have been perfect, the regular length is a bit too long for me, but I think I should have bought the regular length. I still need to wear a belt even with the 30 inch waist as my waist is so small, I can't really size up again in the waist. There is no stretch in the trousers so mobility will be limited, these being so slim makes this worse. Although there are the new stretch vidda pros available, they are unfortunately even slimmer and do not fit me at all as my thighs and butt are way too big. Good material and great features and selection of colours, I really like the style. However, the new improved fit is too slim for my legs and the pockets are so flat they aren't as useful as you think. Maybe having a zipped pocket at the top would improve these trousers but this is a minor point. I wish they offered the option of buying the original fit and slim fit as I would have been better off with the old original fit.
