Casual winter outings call for a warm jacket we can wear when it is freezing out. The Fjallraven Singi Wool Padded Parka is an insulated parka that features Fjallraven's g-1000 lite fabric for exceptional weather protection and durability and is filled with a wool blend to keep us warm. A water-resistant exterior sheds off any water, while the long length adds warmth and comfort. Hook-and-loop cuffs allow us to close up the jacket around our writs to keep the warmth and cold out, while the waist drawcord will enable us to cinch up the middle of the coat to help retain our heat. This parka features a full-zip and button closure for extra weather protection, and an adjustable hood allows us to seal out the bad weather.

Good Jacket
I bought this jacket a few days ago, and generally like it. However, there are 2 design choices that I don't like: 1. The hand pockets are uncomfortable. As you can see from the picture, you have to place your hand vertically into the pockets. There are no "normal" side pockets that you can slip your hands into. This leads to poor insulation from the wind and elements. Also, the pocket is mostly lined with the same rough G-1000 material as the outer shell of the coat, which makes it a bit uncomfortable. 2. The string on the hood of the jacket is exposed along the rim of the hood. This one is more of a personal aesthetic preference, but I think the string being exposed in spots looks a bit funky. I also wish the color of the string matched the color of the jacket, instead of being white. Otherwise, the coat is warm and looks good. I've decided to keep it.

Great for moderate Winters
I bought this last year in a local store on sale. I preferred dark navy but there was only one jacket left in deep forest (green color) and small size. Normally, I am medium size is the right fit for me but the small was surprisingly a perfect fit (I am 72kg, 178cm). I would say the small Singi Wool is like a typical medium. I would not say the same about the small size Singi down though. That was too small for me. I'm going to have a separate review of the Singi down. As of now, I have become a fan of Fjallraven parkas. I like that they have numerous inner and outer pockets of which some of them are quite spacious. I also like their casual outdoorsy style. I have compared Fjallraven to Canada Good and Moose Knucles (I thried these in stores). I prefer Fjallraven even though it is less expensive. The G1000 shell feels substantial. It feels more durable that the shell used by other brands. I also like the lining of the Singi wool model. It feels more organic than the lining of other brands (which feel like texture less nylon!). In my opinion, Singi Wool is not adequate for typical Canadian Winters. I find it warm enough for down to -5C but not any lower unless one adds a warm mid layer. I am not a fan of mid layers so for colder days, I am still sticking to my down jackets. For me, this is a jacket for November and late March /Early April.

Cold, Dry Canadian Winter
I have the forest green in large and I'm 5'9" and weigh around 190 lbs. This fits well and I walk to work for about 30 min one way on the Canadian Prairies which can get windchill down to -40C. I'm pretty happy with the coat but there are a few things I would have liked including a drawstring at the bottom and a removal fur trim around the hood. When the temperature gets below -20C I wear wool coveralls under it and I'm warm with just a work shirt on. When the temp. gets below -3OC I need another mid-layer so put on a sweater and after adding some greenland wax on the upper arms and chest it has improved with stopping the wind from coming through. The hood size is large enough to protect from wind if you turn it or position it right and i don't think I would have wanted it bigger unless I planned to have two coats (one for 0 to -20C and -20C to -40C. Because the hood is not huge I wear goggles but the wool hood protects well from the wind. The reason I purchased it is because I wanted wool fill but now thinking I probably should have got the Singi Down Winter Jacket with the fur trim and drawstring. This does the job and have received compliments on it. I love the double zipper to open up from the bottom and the front pockets are great to store my mittens. The breast pockets are very large and I use them for my keys/wallet and liner gloves. If you wear winter pants this coat could work down to -40C (I take the bus when it gets below that).

Comfortable, from design and choice of materials. Best for tall and average height.
The best feature of this parka is something it does not have, namely a laminated waterproof membrane. As a result, it breathes much, much better in cold weather than a waterproof garment, which allows for less condensate formation on the inside of the garment. Your back and torso will stay dry even after hours of exposure in temperatures of -15C and below. It also makes it an excellent parka for commuters who are going in and out of trains and stations because you will not have to remove the parka while inside, because you won't sweat, yet it still provides excellent protection from the wind and cold. I wore this with just one merino base layer and thin wool sweater and was very comfortable for over 2 hours of walking. It breathes better than my Greenland no.1 and for this reason I would choose it over down, even though it costs less. Don't to add wax to this parka as it is not for the rain! Hood is very well designed, and there's enough space at shoulders for wearing over a suit, if you are of average or slim build. It is heavier than down but you won't feel it while wearing it. It takes a few wearings for it to regain its full loft, when removed from the rather slim packaging. Zippers, pockets and large cuffs are very well designed by people who understand winter. A strong performer at -10 to -25C range in Quebec. Excellent wind resistance, owing to G1000 fabric and longer cut. Tail provides some protection to sit on a bench, but it may seem like a full length coat if you are a short person. Overall, the best parka I have owned.

Almost perfect
Super warm and a brilliant fit! Works well against the Wisconsin winter and the size guide on the website was spot on. Personally I prefer the wool to down because there’s no stray feathers and it seems to handle the wind better. My only criticism would be I’d like some hand warmer pockets similar to my Greenland winter jacket. Worth 5 stars... and the girlfriend keeps stealing it, and there’s no higher praise than that!

Cozy, warm and stylish
Initially I was drawn to the details on this jacket and upon trying it on I was hooked. It quickly became my favorite cold weather jacket. The coziness of the wool lining at the cuffs and in the hood paired with the heaviness of the wool insulation make this parka feel like a weighted blanket you can feel comfortable and secure in all winter long! Great first impression, but runs a little big
Just received this jacket in the mail today and first impressions of the jacket are really good. I haven't worn it outside at all, but I am confident it will fit the bill for what I need it for. Construction feels top notch and styling is great. The one annoyance is that it runs big in my opinion, so now I have to return and get a size smaller. I used the sizing guide to help me pick a size. I am 5'8" ~150lbs and was recommended a small. To my surprise, this was too big. Tons of room in the body and the sleeves are 2-3" too long. Something to keep in mind when ordering Otherwise, I think its a great jacket and am looking forward to getting the right size
