Set your goals and conquer the learning curve of performance skate skiing with the Fischer SCS Skate Ski. Not quite a race ski but certainly not a cruiser, this performance skate ski is precise and easy to control. It helps you move with an air of lightness, it has the stability and forgiveness to look past parts of your skate technique that might still be evolving, and it maintains a consistent flex no matter what the temperature. This last feature is a bit of technology passed down from its big brother in the race series, the RCR. The SCS also shares the same sidecut technology and computer-designed flex as Fischer's World Cup model, the RCS Carbonlite Skating Soft Track Hole Ski. Think of the SCS as the middle ground between the race-born top tier and the patience and predictability of the entry-level option.
Comparisons aside, the focus of this ski is to drive confidence and help your body feel in sync with the skating style. Choose your length based on your ability and weight: heavier skiers should choose a longer length, and more accomplished skiers should balance the maneuverability of a shorter ski with the stability offered by a longer ski. NIS binding compatibility further ensures the smooth link between you and your ski thanks to the integrated nature of the binding and the ski topsheet.
Details
- Torsionally stiff and incredibly lightweight, the Air Core Basalite Pro core makes you feel light on your feet and it resists twisting and torque as you end the kick phase of your skating stride, thus allowing you to predict the feel of this ski and feel more balanced and powerful
- Volcanic basalite fibers also ensure that the core will maintain a consistent flex throughout a variety of temperatures, from warm to cold—this is a significant advantage over a heavily air-based core design that could otherwise change the flex of the ski during significant temperature changes
- CFC (Computer Flex Control) is a ski construction method that uses computer data mapping to minimize differences in camber pressure and residual tension in core materials over the length of the ski Performance skiers and racers will find that this results in a ski with significantly less flex inconsistency from tip to tail and a larger sweet spot in the flex
- Fischer's stiffest skate-specific flex (60ShA) gives you the snappiest platform to kick and glide on
- Power Edge is a ski technology that reinforces the ski chassis at the furthest edges of the base—this reinforcement allows for more even distribution of pressure across the base of the ski, which in turn means that more of the base (and thus wax) touches the snow so you get a fast, even glide
- DTG World Cup Plus base finish is created using a natural diamond that etches a deeper and coarser structure that's ideal for warm and moist snow conditions
- The sidecut shape is trickled down from World Cup technology—it uses a slightly tapered tip to reduce swing weight and tip drag and improve tip release during the kick phase of the skating motion
- Compared to traditional sidecuts, this allows for a smooth, even release of the ski, making you more efficient from skate to skate
- At 1270g, this ski is lighter than the beginner-friendly CRS Skating Ski and more than 250 grams heavier than the World Cup RCS Carbonlite Skating Ski
- NIS binding integration allows you to slide a NIS binding onto this ski and adjust the mounting point within two centimeters fore or aft in just a few minutes. NIS integration also allows this ski and binding to flex as a unit, a characteristic that eliminates the flex-interruption of a binding for a more natural boot-to-ski feel and improved responsiveness.
