Why We Like The Fizik Vento Infinito Carbon 2 Wide Cycling Shoe
Riders with wider feet tend to seek out a higher volume fit, and the Vento Infinito Carbon 2 Wide Cycling Shoe is an ideal choice for such cyclists. This shoe provides top performance and is chosen by leading athletes of the pro peloton. A microtex upper provides stability and support while offering a comfortable fit, and the R2 carbon outsole provides a stiffness index rating of 10 for supreme power transfer on our ride. Absolute Bangers
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I was a long-time Sidi fanboy with 3 different pair in my closet…but unfortunately as I aged my feet started to grow wider and I did not like the Sidi Mega options. So I did my research and eventually gave the Infinitos a try. They. Are. Glorious. The toe box is very appropriately spaced, the soles are as stiff as any other high performance shoe I’ve ridden, and the boa dials couldn’t be easier to adjust on the fly. I have also come to love the silicone grippers in the heel cup which do an outstanding job of keeping my foot firmly in place, even under the hardest of sprint efforts. Additionally, the cleat placement is further back on the shoe, which has allowed me to achieve an even more appropriate bike fit and has mitigated some other foot and ankle issues related to having the cleats too far forward previously. The one area in which these could use improvement is the tongue. I was spoiled with the padding in Sidi and never had a hot spot no matter how hard I cinched down. These, on the other hand, could stand for improvement in the tongue as they can pinch or create hot spots if you overshoot how aggressively you clamp down on the dials (or forget to loosen them back up after that mid-ride sprint).
