Gearhead Picks: NEMO Stargaze

When you camp as much as I do, a chair becomes a necessary guilty pleasure. My personal favorite is the NEMO Stargaze Luxury Recliner Camp Chair. I recommend this chair for all of your car camping needs.

The NEMO Stargaze weighs six pounds and isn’t exactly compact enough for backpacking unless you’re a lot more committed than most. The chair is luxuriously large – I find it easy to have my dog on my lap while sitting in it, which is uncommon for camp chairs.

For such a big, sturdy piece, it’s stable as can be and the Stargaze is really easy to set up. In less than a minute, you have a comfortable recliner to relax in at camp after a long day of outdoor fun. It’s self-reclining instead of mechanized like a lot of other chairs on the market. To recline, simply shift your weight back and this does all the work for you.

The padded headrest is super comfortable when you’re napping (or STARGAZING) in a reclined position. I especially love that this chair is made from really durable but breathable mesh for added comfort so you don’t feel sticky on those warm summer nights.

Oh, and the cupholder! What recliner is complete without a cupholder? Plus there’s a second sleeve for your phone or headlamp or other small accessories. When it’s time to pack up camp, simply disassemble and store it in its padded carry case.
