The BugsAway Damselfly Jacket, featuring Insect Shield technology, is packable bug protection. This lightweight jacket stuffs into its own security zip pocket. Reinforced shoulders hold up under straps, and the hood keeps insects away from your ears and face. Permethrin, the active ingredient in Insect Shield, is invisible, odorless, and so tightly bonded to the fabric fibers that it retains effective repellency through the life of the garment. It repels mosquitoes (including those carrying West Nile virus and malaria), ticks, ants, flies, chiggers and midges (no-see-ums). Insect Shield repellent lasts 70 washings. Do not dry clean.

Great jacket for buggy trips
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This jacket is awesome for deterring all manner of biting insects. I'm usually the one person in the group who gets all the mosquito bites, and was bitten literally zero times while hiking in the jungle in Peru. It also kept me from being eaten alive a couple of seasons later on a canoe camping trip in Algonquin park, where we were literally surrounded by clouds of mosquitoes. The jacket is a super light mesh for hot trips, a little oversized and layers well, and has nice big pockets for all my stuff.

Love my BugsAway
I bought my first BugsAway in 2014 and just replaced it (July 2022). I love it because it’s so light you can stash it in any bag to throw on if the temperature dips or a breeze comes up, and it looks great with everything.

Color off, otherwise awesome!
I love your clothes so much. This is a 5 star jacket, for quality, effectiveness, and look! However, I bought them with a pair of joggers, and they both said they were the same color. They are not, in fact they clash. I still love the pieces individually, but I purchased them to be a set. I will certainly be back to buy more. Again, I love this brand!

Perfect spring hoodie
Liteweight perfect warmth for warmer mornings and days. Layers well. Travels well. The color goes with most my other clothing and all Exo clothing are cohesive.

Returned
My three stars is an attempt to be “neutral” about this jacket. It was not what I expected with the mesh — guess I misread the description. The quality seemed fine. and may work really well for someone else’s intentions. The XL size fit fine.

Good Against Tick Nymphs
Haven’t had a tick on head or torso while wearing this on the farm. Medium is very roomy for layering on my 5’5” 112 lb frame. Surprisingly study against briar snags. Well ventilated for the heat; have since ordered a small for better fit on public trails, and complimented on nice jacket! Would like see a Bugs Away head net for mosquitoes on face!

Bugs away jacket
Really helpful with bugs, light weight, hood comfortable. Does get a bit warm if really hot but worth it to keep bugs away.

No bites!
Took this backpacking in Upper Michigan's Porcupine Mountains in August. Had varying temperatures from lower 60's to low 80's and wore this pretty much the whole time. Super breathable mesh fabric and didn't get bit once! Plus it packs down and is lightweight! Love it!

Bugsaway
I wish I had gotten a jacket like this years ago. The best part is that it is cool and comfortable for hiking in the heat. It is always in my pack ready to go. The only improvement would be a net for the head tucked away in the hood. Since I have a head net already it works great with the jacket.

Is the insect repellent permethrin used on your gear/garments? If so, what percent? If not, what is/are the ingredient/s used? I’m looking for these type of products but need to review ingredients for health reasons. Would really like to obtain yours.
