One He!! of a tent!
This tent replaced my old Timberline, which was first-rate in its day.

Quality tent
The quality of the materials is obvious. This tent is not too hard to put up (I did it by myself on the first try). I wish there was a gear loft.

Great tent for what it’s made for
I’ve used this mainly for car camping around red rocks and Saint George. It’s super roomy, I’m 6’4 and had no trouble stretching out. I’m sure it would fit four comfortably, though I’ve only been in it with three. My only complaint is that it’s not aerodynamic at all. Had some heavy winds blow the sides of the tent down on me a couple of nights even after blockading the wall with my stuff. That being said, it’s still in great shape even after the windy/stormy conditions.

STRONG
I had the perfect opportunity to test this tent in some crazy winds! Even 70 mph gusts couldn't take my tent down, even when the poles broke on my mom's tent sadly. Even condensation wasn't an issue, and I didn't even put on the rainfly! So excited to take this super tough tent on more adventures!

Excellent Durable Family Tent
This tent is well made and seems like a great quality - there are tons of configurations for ventilation. This tent was purchased to replace a 20+ year old Timberline 4 - hopefully it will last at least as long. If you are looking for a tent that can hold up and is easy to set up, with the durability to put up with kids - this is a great selection.

Durable Tent After 1 Year and 100 Nights
Had this tent for 1 year now and have camped exactly 100 nights in it. Camped in it from Utah and Colorado to Tennessee, Florida and up the eastern states to New Hampshire. Purchased this outfitter tent because it is made to be more durable. The zippers on it are heavy-duty and have worked flawlessly over the past year. I also wanted a tent with a rain fly that goes low all the way around. The large vents are great when the weather is warm. One thing I did have to get used to is that the ground cloth is not waterproof, and water/condensation will get/form between it and the external floor of the tent. The ground cloth is only meant to help protect the tent floor, which is waterproof itself. The tent has held up in high winds of Wyoming. When a thunderstorm in Wyoming blew debris against the tent and cut a 6-inch gash in the rain fly, a customer representative from Johnson Outdoors was quick to reply that applying GearAid "Tenacious Tape" to both sides of the tear in the rain fly was the best repair to make. This repair has held up well for 31 camping nights so far.

Survived the arctic
Went on a 50 day canoeing trip through the Northwest Territories and Nunavut last summer, picked this tent up last minute since one of ours had a malfunction. The rain-fly was pretty good at keeping us dry, and we loved the hi-flow air vents for the occasional hot day. The footprint wasn't the greatest at keeping water out but we had an additional tarp to lay down inside so that was OK. Biggest downside: rain-fly and pole durability. We had some pretty gnarly winds that our other tent was able to withstand, this one not so much. We had every guide-line staked (and rocked!) out, and it still managed to bend or move the poles to the point where the sides of the tent were significantly pushing on occupants huddled inside. The little ties for the guide-lines ripped pretty easily, I think we lost three or four. Consensus: great tent for little back country trips in the lower 48with low wind, maybe not the greatest for arctic travel.

Home Run!
Eureka hit a home run with this outstanding, updated version of their El Capitan Outfitter 4 person tent. The quality of the materials, and skillful construction of this very tough and durable tent are truly admirable. The tent is rather large and very comfortable for a 4 person tent. As an outfitter quality tent, it was obviously designed and constructed to to be a very rugged 3+ season tent that is able to handle almost any kind of abuse mother nature can dish out in normal usage conditions ( It is obviously not an expedition level tent intended to used above the treeline on mountain tops). The tent's durable construction and quality components ensure that this tent's lifespan (with reasonable use and care) will last a long time. It is my opinion that this outfitter tent is a great value considering its excellent quality and its very reasonable price. In fact, I would say that is tent is perhaps a bit under priced when compared to many other similar outfitter quality tents from other competing manufacturers. I truly believe this tent is worth every penny I paid for it. Actually, I would have paid more than the asking price. I make this statement as I truly believe this tent, at this quality level, is a great value at the requested retail price. I am quite partial to outfitter quality tents due to their toughness and durability. Over the years, I have bought some outfitter style/quality tents (mainly from Eureka and another competitor company whose name is spelled a bit similar to "Salty"). I have found that other company's offerings of similar dome style outfitter quality tents have similar prices and many similar excellent features to those of the Eureka El Capitan Outfitter tents (rugged fabrics, strong zippers, burly aluminum poles, and excellent construction). However, I believe Eureka's El Capitan Outfitter tent offering is a better value and is a superior tent in many ways to those of many other competing companies. To illustrate, the superior features of the Eureka's El Capitan Outfitter tent include a rugged (ripstop) fabric fly, zippered fabric panels to cover the interior mesh if desired (to enhance warmth and reduce chilly drafts in the tent during colder weather camping trips), a strong fly ridge pole integrated in the upper body of the tent to help increase head room inside the tent, thicker water proof (pu) coatings on the fly and floor, and Eureka's clever hi/low venting system. These are some of the important features that the Eureka El Capitan Outfitter tent has, and many other (competitor's brand) outfitter tents lack. The Eureka El Capitan Outfitter tent is a better tent and a better value due to the inclusion of these key features. For its intended purpose and design, I believe the Eureka El Capitan Outfitter quality tent is perfect in every way. I have no complaints concerning the material quality and the construction quality of this product. The combination of the high quality and reasonable price of the tent are right on target. My only complaint concerning this very nice tent is that Eureka has not created an available (optional) gear loft accessory for those customers who would choose to purchase one. Eureka has provided the gear loft support loops in the tent for a gear loft, but has strangely failed to provide one for their customers. I think this was shortsighted of Eureka, as an opportunity was missed to enhance customer satisfaction and enhance product profitability. Eureka has wisely created an optional footprint accessory for this tent for those customers who choose to purchase one. Eureka needs to demonstrate such wisdom again in creating a quality (optional) gear loft for the El Capitan Outfitter tents. Do that, and this excellent tent is then a full five star complete package!

Awesome tent
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very cool tent very easy to set up. This tent was actually really easy to set up any one can do it. The amount of room inside this tent is unbelievable. I cannot wait to get it out camping this summer. It has two large zipper doors in each side which I find amazing. The best part I find about this tent is the rainfly that wraps the whole tent that also has its own zipper to get it. Highly recommend don’t pass this one up
