ST Rotation 10 Binding
Previously, the Radical 2.0 was all the rage, and Dynafit continues to push the limits in backcountry performance with its new ST Rotation 10 Binding. This midweight tech-toe option utilizes the same rotating toe piece and 10mm of forward pressure in the heel that made its predecessor so popular with hard-charging skiers, but Dynafit added a spring-tensioned toe-piece that auto-realigns itself to keep your boot in line with the heel-piece while clicking in.

Awesome uphill, very good downhill
Awesome Binding! Skied the binding on Radical 97, Lange XT3 Pro Touring Boot at 130. Skied in bounds at Palisades, Alpine climbed side and back country. Maxed out the ski on Silverado above Mr. Toad’s Chute and had to side step down, but besides that, handled Chute 75 which is above Radical 97 Max Out, about 110% what the ski can regularly handle. You have to maintain perfect form, the Radical 97 is not forgiving, but it’s versatile. Handled Alpine D Chutes and side country steep descents, tree skiing A plus, Moguls B minus. The binding is actually fantastic for what it does. Is it a Marker Jester, of course not, it’s a handsome bobcat ready to pounce into backcountry or untracked in bounds terrain.

Great build quality, Not good for hard pack.
Overall the fit and finish on these bindings was very nice. Lots of metal, and seemed very well built. Skied on these for two days, the first day was in relatively soft pack, soft groomers, and powder. The second day was on very hard pack moguls, hard pack groomers, and only the occasional powder here and there. Day 2 I had 4 prereleases.. The first prerelease was the first run of the day and ejected me down a steep run of 3 foot high hard pack moguls and could have led to me getting pretty badly injured. After the second prerelease on hard pack, I began to be weary of the terrain and slowed down my skiing only to have another two prereleases. The binding DIN Were set as required for my weight, and after reading, it would seem the type of release I was having is not unique to this particular binding but is a weak point of all tech bindings. When the ski flexes fully, there is not enough elasticity to take up the movement and the boot is simply pushed out of the toe piece. This can be combatted by completely locking out the toe, but this essentially guarantees you will break your ankle or knee if you catch something. After a decade of wanting these bindings, I have sold them to replace with a heavier hybrid binding (Marker Duke PT) simply for safety sake. Out west where the snowpack is softer and less variable, many would probably be okay with these bindings unlocked. But for hard charging on the east coast where the snowpack can be very variable, I do not feel these are appropriate. For reference, I have size 30.5 boot, 170cm Dynafit 97mm skis, and am approximately 210lbs. A lighter rider may do okay with these as well. I hope this review helps anyone contemplating these bindings to decide whether they are appropriate for their riding style!

Very hard to transition from tour to ski mode!
I've found it is very difficult to rotate the back binding from tour mode into ski mode while still on my skis. I'm also a rock climber with reasonable grip strength and flexibility yet I have to take off my skis each time I try to turn the binding to ski mode. I ski Colorado backcountry and snow is often deep powder. When I step out of my skis to transition, I'm often in powder up to my knees or even hips. So, transitioning while still in the bindings is critical. My partners all transition while on their skis, but I have to mess around off my skis. This is not a great experience for my friends who have to wait. The other features are nice but this one would keep me from purchasing again or recommending to another.

Great binding but tough on cold hands
Excellent product but I have a hard time rotating and pushing down the binding when moving from ski to walk or reverse. I have small hands and when cold I find the switch harder than average. Practice at home before heading out.

Rotations
I like the rotations, their versatility, for on and off, piste, and their reliable functionality. However, I’m not 100% sold on them due to the weight and the FACT that they collect snow and ice under the heel when touring. If you want a quiver of one ski binding, this might be it. But if you primarily tour, there are better options.

Great bindings that allow for a safer knee release while touring, but provide light weight uphills and sturdy aggressive downhills. I loved them so much i got two pairs one for my powder touring and my all mountain touring skis!

Great Touring Binding
I've used Dynafit touring bindings for several years now and they do not disappoint. These ST Rotation are great on the uphill and downhill and have a great release if your in trouble.

Very stiff. Hard to operate
Hard to operate very stiff Fromm walk modes. Trying to work in like a baseball mitt or hiking boot.
