Insight 24 Kid's Bike - 2015

Diamondback knows that most of the riding the little whippersnappers are doing these days isn't on gnarly trails or loose dirt paths, but on the paved streets around their towns, parks, and neighborhoods. With this in mind, the company set out to take a new approach to kid's bikes, and in doing so, wound up creating the Diamondback Insight 24.

The Insight is immediately distinguished from most other youth bikes upon first sight, with a design descended from Diamondback's adult-sized Insight series. The 24's frame is made of a high-quality aluminum alloy that's both durable and lightweight, with geometry that keeps kids' backs and heads upright for easy viewing of what's around them, whether static obstacles or moving objects such as cars, or each other. A high-set handlebar makes this possible, but doesn't raise the rider's center of gravity too high. This, combined with a strong and stiff alloy fork up front promises stability and precise handling.

Ensuring that the Insight 24's parts are as tough and smart as the frame itself, Diamondback loaded up the bike right. A Shimano drivetrain with a double-ring crankset promises a huge range for easy climbing, and coming from Shimano, it's easy to use and reliable, so your little rider won't get stranded on the sidewalk. Diamondback's own 24-inch wheels wrapped in Jr. Dual Sport tires are likewise tough and puncture-resistant for the same reason, and bestow the bike with great traction to avoid slips or accidents. With extra-grippy Kraton grips and a comfortable DB Jr. saddle, you can know they'll feel comfortably in control of the bike and won't just feel they have to ride it — they'll want to ride it.

The Diamondback Insight 24 Kid's Bike comes only in the color Black, and in one size. The bike is designed to fit youngsters of approximate heights from 4'5" (134cm) to 4'10" (147cm). Please note that the bike comes almost fully built but needs some minor assembly and tuning out of the box, so we strongly recommend visiting a trusted local bike shop to give it a once-over before riding.
