Even if you're new to road riding, you deserve a bike that checks off the boxes on your wishlist without damaging your wallet. However, Diamondback understands that not every cyclist wants a bike for the sole purpose of racing. For this reason, the Century 2 Complete Bike features a build and geometry that'll have you pedaling in comfort mile after scenic mile.
Although it's most known in mountain biking circles, Diamondback shares owners and technologies with the 130 year-old Raleigh Bicycles, which was formed in Nottingham, England in 1886. It's road prowess, as well as edge in the classic bike touring market, have helped shaped Diamondback's foray into road cycling. Although it's designed with the same geometry and attention to detail as the Century 3 and 4, the Century 2 features a 7000-series Alloy frame instead of a carbon fiber layup. And while Alloy is not as light as carbon fiber, it is quite durable and resistant to wear. Basically, it's the perfect material for new riders who need a well-designed road frame, only without the carbon price tag.
Finishing off the build is Diamondback's Carbon Road Fork, which features an alloy crown and steerer tube. Why not also construct the fork from 7000-series Alloy? Well, adding a carbon fork to the Alloy frame provides unparalleled stiffness, which also provides an optimal sense of handling. Even better, the carbon fiber also adds far greater compliance than aluminum, which takes the edge out of rough roads. Essentially, it acts as a dampener on the front end of the bike.
Using its Enhanced Performance Geometry, Diamondback combines the fit of its more aggressive carbon competition frames with a slightly higher head tube. As a result, this puts less strain on your back and neck, which obviously makes for more enjoyable miles out on the road. The more upright position also improves comfort for riders with less pelvic rotation and core stability.
The Diamondback Century 2 Complete was given a host of durable Shimano components. For the shift levers and front and rear derailleur, Diamondback included Shimano 105 10-speed components. The drivetrain features a 50/34t FSA Omega Compact BB30 crankset, a FSA CN910 chain, and a Shimano CS-4600 Tiagra 12/30t cassette. The cockpit build is a complete repertoire of Diamondback components. You rest on a DBR Performance saddle and ride on Diamondback's new Equation RS wheels that are cased with Michelin Dynamic Sport 700c x 25mm tires. And lastly, stopping power is handled by Tektro R540 Dual-Pivot brakes.
Diamondback's Century 2 Complete Bike is available in even size increments from 52cm to 60cm and in Blue.
