Huck, shred, schralp, send, and bomb are just a few words added to our quiver along with the Diamondback Catch 2 Mountain Bike when we get on it. Built for confident trail-shredding this plus-sized mountain bike does all the trail things we need and does them well. Level Link suspension keeps the rig in control while the plus-sized rubber adds tons of grip for trail riding pleasure. Built with quality and rugged parts the Catch 2 has us catching big air and shredding down fun descents. When the going gets rough and rowdy we're more than thankful for the plus-sized tires offering us extra grip and confidence while we learn the ropes.
Built to provide trail confidence is one thing, but without trail geometry to match, we're not getting very far. The Catch 2 comes with a playful 68-degree head angle and a long 1159mm wheelbase on a size medium. This mean that even when things get to steep for the head-angle to handle the long-wheelbase keeps us in control. With these big 2.8in tires on the front we're finding ourselves confidently rolling over big obstacles and hitting new features we'd normally reserve for bigger bikes. Value is high with the Catch 2, and full external cable routing means putting on a new brake or shifter cable doesn't have to be a headache.
Made for smashing trail on a budget the Catch 2 has an impressive amount of detail and quality put into the spec. Fox Suspension tops the list, with Performance suspension getting much of the same tech as the Factory level bits but without the huge price tag. Shimano has drivetrain duties and does so with the impressive and universally loved SLX drivetrain. SLX is just two steps down from XTR, giving the bike a smooth and reliable platform for all the miles to come. Diamondback specs a number of quality aluminum in-house parts and a dropper to get the saddle out of the way on big descents. We needed a bike that got us up and down the trail all while teaching valuable skills, and the Catch 2 delivers.
