With all the mega-expensive mountain bikes out there it's nice to see the Diamondback Catch 1 hit the shelves. Making trail-shredding a priority is the goal with this new iteration of the Catch 1, as the bike comes with massive 27.5 x 2.8in tires for maximum grip and confidence. We use the Catch 1 to get into new terrain no matter what part of the country we're in, knowing the Level Link suspension platform will get us there with efficient pedaling and great bump absorption.
Geometry with the Catch 1 truly makes this a proper trail bike, giving us a frame with geo that's suited for both flowy singletrack and technical terrain. The bike is adorned with a 68-degree head-tube angle, steep for modern times, but until recently bikes with these angles would be shredding most local mountains. The steep headtube angle lends the bike to be great at tight and twisty bits of the trail while the 130mm fork soaks up big hits along the way.
Kit on the Catch 1 is highlighted with the SRAM NX Eagle drivetrain. Offering fast and precise shifts, the 12-speed range brought by the bike gets us up and over the steepest of climbs. Suspension duties are supported by the steadfast Suntour shock and fork, offering different adjustment options depending on the trail. The Catch 1 offers us a machine that'll get us where we're going quickly, confidently, and ready to take on tougher trail as we progress our skills.
*Due to unprecedented demand in the global supply chain and the bike industry over the last 18 months, material weight and exact components are subject to change. We are working diligently to keep tech specs updated, and any adjustments will be minor. If you have any questions, reach out to a Gearhead by chatting online or calling 1-888-276-7130.
