Not Durable.

Have only brought this bag on three flights, and it already has a hole through the bottom of the bag. My $60 Dakine is better than this.

OK, but flawed for actual airline travel

This is a good product in concept, but has a a few drawbacks that people should think through. I've had it for a couple years now, purchased direct from Db. It is a big hassle to pack two pairs of skis. If you review the instructions/, they want you to band up your brakes then place two in the middle and two on either side. This takes much more time than what you'd expect to get it all situated correctly. There are no tiedowns. So your stuff, especially more race-tuned skis will risk cutting and scraping against itself and the bag. They expect you to use your boots and clothes and gear to lock things into place. However, if you're packing 2 pairs of skis+poles, you're already close to the 50# typical airline regular bag limit and you can't really pad the empty space with gear. So you then need to bring like cardboard boxes or bubblewrap; to keep stuff in place. If you've somehow have airline status, maybe this isn't a dealbreaker for you; but paying an extra $100 for oversized luggage each leg is a dealbreaker. Next , the way they expect you to secure things down they have you roll down the top excess fabric and clip it, which is a quite clever. HOWEVER, again a big flaw; in today's airtravel, TSA is going to inspect every bag; and about 75% of the time they will not clip the top back properly. So again all your stuff is just going to shake around in there, and get damaged. I have even written a label and taped it to the bag saying to USE the zipper; with a big arrow, but they still want to unhook the clips and take a look. Then, if you did not think ahead and use a carabiner or string to keep the clips connected, a big chance TSA is going to lose the clip since it separates entirely apart; then you are SOL and you have a loose floppy bag for the entirety of your trip until you can track down a replacement. This bag is more suited for like overland expeditions, where all your gear is under your control; and it is more important you get all your gear into 1 luggage; regardless of the 50# limit; and you have dull powder or backcountry skis that are already all scraped up and not super sharp.

Surprisingly Burly Protection

Admittedly, when I packed this thing I was worried that it would both not protect my skis and allow them to scratch each other up. I packed a pair of 188 Animas which are 115mm wide with Attack 13 (very wide) bindings, and a pair of 181 Master blasters which are 99 with Pivots, along with an avy kit, two pairs of poles, 28.5 scarpa freedom boots, some shells, gloves, insoles, etc. If you want to fit in two pairs of skis for a trip, they will fit with a pair of boots, and this alone will get you to about 50 pounds depending on skis. You should put the fatter skis in along the bottom and the thinner skis on the sides, and load in the skis on the sides backwards so that the bindings offset. Use some old t-shirts or your undies to line the edges and bindings so that they don't maul each other; once this bag was packed, the skis were surprisingly locked into position and didn't move to much, despite the bag coming in at over 60 pounds and being handled roughly. Skis weren't damaged at all during the trip, any scratching from rubbing each other was minor I couldn't tell at least (especially compared to how they got beat on during the trip.) Zipping it up at the end is a pain and you have to pack the top end blindly if you're packing skis longer than 175cm since the zipper doesn't go all of the way up. One of the skid plates at the base caught on a conveyer belt and ripped off, but the rest of the bag shrugged off a trip's worth of abuse and more importantly, as flimsy as it can feel, protected my gear. You are paying a premium unless it's on sale; 300 bucks is a lot.

I'm not sold on this.

I'm kind of meh about this bag. The design seems cool, but it's really quite difficult to fit everything they advertised as being able to fit. I can't fit two pairs of ski's, a pair of boots without everything rubbing, being crossed over each other and scuffing the &*$% out of each other. My boots are only 27.5 and my skis are 94 and 118's and the 118's seem too wide either way I put them, which is not cool. You should be able to fit powder ski's and your everyday ski's in here, as that's what you'd bring on a trip. I will report back, but not sold as of yet.
