Why We Like The Cervelo ZHT-5 GX Eagle Transmission Mountain Bike
When we are looking for both the efficiency of a gravel bike and the capability of a trail bike, the Cervelo ZHT-5 is a no-brainer. Developed as a modern cross-country race hardtail, the ZHT-5 is a rocket ship on the climbs and flats while being unexpectedly capable on the descents. The short wheelbase and short and agile chainstays make the ZHT-5 a force to reckon with on switchbacks and tight singletrack, and the moderate 69-degree headtube angle allows us to conquer anything the modern cross-country courses have to throw at us. Dual 29-inch tires keep the ZHT-5 rolling through the roughest obstacles on the course and ensure all our energy put into the pedals is transferred into forward momentum. With a decently steep seat tube angle, sitting at 74 degrees legs in line with the pedals for an efficient climbing position, we can boost up those technical climbs with as much speed as possible. The ZHT-5 has a short seat tube angle for tons of standover clearance, and the ability to run longer seat posts, and the threaded bottom bracket provides us with enhanced durability and an easier-to-service configuration. No matter whether we are racing in our local cross-country series or just out crushing the local singletrack, the Cervelo ZHT-5 gives us a capable and fast bike that makes us rethink what a hardtail can do.
This build of the ZHT-5 deploys SRAM's new GX Eagle Transmission AXS drivetrain, a super lightweight carbon fiber frame, and quality components across the board. First up, Cervelo's carbon fiber frame weighs in at just under 2 pounds, giving us a rocket ship of a bike that will allow us to ride further and faster than the competition. Next, SRAM's new GX Eagle Transmission AXS drivetrain gives flawless shifting, a durable design, and a stylish new look, complete with no cables, of course. RockShox's SID SL Select, 100mm fork handles all the bumps and drops up front, is super lightweight, and has tons of adjustments so we can tune it to meet our riding style. RaceFace ARC Offset 27 rims paired with e*Thirteen TRS Race hubs give us a quality wheelset that provides us with confidence blasting through rock gardens and anything the modern cross-country courses can throw at us. Finally, premium Maxxis Rekon Race tires keep the rolling resistance down and the grip and traction high as we blast through berms and spin our way to the podium.
*Due to a high demand in the global supply chain and bike industry since the start of the pandemic, material weight and exact components are subject to change. We are working diligently to keep tech specs updated, and any adjustments will be of equal or better spec level.
