Why We Like The Walking Harness

Carhartt made The Walking Harness so we could get a grip on our dogs when out for walks or during backyard training sessions. It has two attachment points: one on the back for casual strolls and one on the chest for when we need more control. Neoprene cushioning helps keep them comfortable while we pull back against their advances on fleeing squirrels.

Carhartt leash comes off harness

When used with a Carhartt leash, the leash can come off the harness unexpectedly and the dog can get off leash when not intended.

Chet (my best pal and shop foreman) is a powerhouse. After his anchor was upgraded to a 5/8"x24" rod, and his rope to a 550# dock rope, he destroyed his cheaper harness. This one has held up. Also fits perfectly over his chore coat.

Good Harness for the money

My Winston ( a Bloodhound) has been wearing these harnesses about 5years now, before I was replacing harnesses about every 2 weeks, he kept breaking the others. Good harness comfortable easy to adjust., cool on him.

Love it

Extremely well made. Our dog loves getting it on because it means we are going outside.

Dog Harness

Takes a few minutes for initial adjustments. Seems comfortable on very active 1 1/2 yr.old lab. Fabric is very breathable, good for hot weather. We can use it for control without "punishing" her with a neck collar. Not too bulky. Sally (Oregon)

Nice but?

The bottom strap gaps and the front stains my dogs fur. Otherwise, seems good.

Great harness, take the time to fit it to your dog.

Took time to get the harness adjusted properly for my dog. He wears it for hours when we go for hikes, he even swims in it and has had no issues with it rubbing his skin. I believe a lot of complaints about rubbing issues is poor adjustment. This harness is rugged and has served well for the past year with no sign of wear. The option of a chest connection works great when he gets in his "mush dog" mode to keep him on track. I also use it as a safety harness when we are in the jeep with the doors off to prevent him from falling out. When it wears out (if it ever does) I will be buying another.

Corroded Buckles/Hardware

Well made harness. A handle on top would be niece but not possible with this design. Problem is, the hardware on the side seems to be made of pot metal. It has corroded and is cutting through the straps. The fittings/buckles should be stainless steel.

Durable Harness

Have been using this harness on my German Shepard for awhile now. He is 85 lbs and pulls on walks. Speaks to the durability of this Carhartt product - no tears and it's still in great shape! He gets compliments on his gear on walks.
