The GOAT boat cooler
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Size Bought:
- 103 qt
I bought this after a big boating season. I had been struggling with a smaller cooler. The fit and rigging for this is excellent. Fits perfectly on the NRS frame of my e-142. protected latches and strap routing are amazing.

Cooler seemed to be nice at least looking at it online……but here are a few nitpicks: 1: you can’t open the cooler when it’s resting on crossbars because there’s no room under the latches to lift the latch. You must either create some spacers to sit under the lip and above the crossbar to give your finder room enough to lift the latch. One could also drill a hole in the base of the rubber latch to use as a pull cord. 2: Putting anything ext to the cooler in an adjacent bay will require another crossbar. 3: the fit and finish of this cooler is terrible. The lid is not aligned with the base creating noticeable misalignments like a middle school schooler the day before braces. The holes for the locks are completely off and require drilling out before a lock will fit. 4: I purchased the lime green one expecting a white lid as the picture shows, but my lid was also lime green. 5: there are no cable or cord retainers for the drain plugs. 6: the plastic surrounding the hinge rod is noticeably reduced as compared to Yeti’s resulting in a ton of flex and play. Yes. It stays cold, just like it’s other $500 competitors, but it feels and looks like it should cost half as much.
