This is a harpoon.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This thing is HUGE. Much longer than what I expected. I figured a 4 foot sand spear to anker me near the shore, but this is long enough to hold you in deeper waters. There is an sand spear holder attachment that is great anker location on the LONO. Affixing it to the LONO when not in use is troublesome, but I am weighing my options to go with or without.

Excellent product
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had 2 sand spears/push piles (other brand), so I didn’t initially buy the BOTE brand. Having said that, I recently purchased the BOTE sandspear with my newest (of 7) BOTE board, and I’m kicking myself for having waited. The quality of BOTE is much better, not to mention the functionality of the sandspear is outstanding. It’s rigid and tough, and I love the soft padding on the push end to protect my hands ……it’s a must have item for fishing !

Cool but sinks like a stone
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like the idea, but the first time I used it, I dropped it, and it sank to the bottom instantly. It needs a retention or float mechanism available, or I would go broke replacing it every time it was lost.

Great investment
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been eyeing this sand spear for a while, and I'm very happy I've finally bought it. It's exactly what I expected to be and is very useful in so many situations.

Big stick, works well.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a big fiberglass stick that feels tough. I would hate to see what it would take to break it. Holds you in place well.

Nice for a river float
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We put this to work on our last paddle. Had no trouble keeping us in place while eating lunch on the river. It was heavier than expected, but functions flawlessly.

Great Spear, Tricky Storage
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The spear works great—it's nice and sturdy, and penetrates the sand bottom very well. However, storage is a bit tricky. The paddleboard doesn't have a dedicated spot for it, so managing an 8-foot stick loose or in a rod holder is cumbersome. It would have been great if the kayak package Rackham included an extra rail rack and sand spear holder, especially since the alternative board I received lacked the sand spear straps that the Bug Slinger had. The sand spear sheath functions, but I'm concerned about its durability, as it's made of pretty flimsy plastic.

Works good to hold the
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Works good to hold the boat in place. Make sure you use some sort of leash though as it sinks and can be knocked of the board by the paddle when it’s stowed in its clips among the side.
