Why We Like The Storm 500-R Headlamp
Black Diamond is enhancing its Storm headlamp lineup with the new R-Series lamps. This particular Storm 500-R Headlamp is a high-lumen and multi-mode lamp that gives us the power to fully illuminate our nights with nine different lighting modes and the potential for 5H of charge time at the highest setting. We really like that the Repreve headband stops that uncomfortable, hair-pulling sensation we often get with cheaper headlamps.

Mountaineering headlamp
I used this headlamp for my hike up Mt. Hood and this headlamp held up perfectly with plenty of charge left. The freezing cold temperature didn't bother it.

Best!!
Having a headlamp with a rechargable battery is great! The illumination from the lamps are great the different modes make it multipurpose and the increased dust and waterproofing from a sealed compartment let me have peace of mind even in inclement weather.

Didn't last more than 3 months
The worst headlamp I ever bought. The battery doesn't last nearly as long as advertised and I only use it for a maximum of 15 minutes on beacon mode or whatever it is called when it flashes. most likely a defect but horrible first impression.

Tradesman's review
This is the best headlamp I have ever used! The rechargeable battery lasts all day on the construction site, is compact and has a variety of settings. Other headlamps only claim to last all day. I use the red light feature to read a book on a plane, at night, and don't want to disturb the sleep of fellow passengers.

Lighter, more comfortable, and rechargeable
I had the original storm for many years, and upgraded to this rechargeable version recently. So far I’m finding that it’s lighter, more comfortable, and I love the fact that it’s rechargeable.

Bright, light, and easy to use
Love this headlamp. It’s a real step up from others I’ve had in the past. I was weary of going rechargeable vs standard batteries, but so far so good!

Gets the job done.
Easy to use. Practical and useful functions, like red and blue light for illuminating without causing over lighting. Haven’t used it for trail navigation yet, and happy for the helpful brightness I’ve noticed. The usb charging is the reason for choosing this model.

Don’t get this headlamp.
1. The tap feature on the side makes it way harder to keep your settings. If something bumps the headlamp it changes the beam setting. Super annoying. 2. The blinking feature sucks because if you turn your headlamp off and then turn it back on quick it goes into automatic blink mode which takes multiple more buttons to get out of blink mode 3. The dim setting of the white light actually lights up your nose and in the dim light your nose is the brightest thing you see and your eyes never adjusts so that’s annoying. 4. The battery level of the battery is on the bottom of the headlamp and when you turn the headlamp off the battery levels blink right in your eyes so you have to let that stop happening before you can actually try and let your eyes adjust to the now darkness. Possible the most issues I have ever had with a headlamp. Not worth the money.
