Taking off a star doesn’t mean that there is something inherently wrong with the carabiner. For its price it’s a great biner. However, I don’t think it would be a whole lot more effort to add texture to the gate to provide some grip. I’ve found my fingers have slipped a couple times. Other than that it’s really good

Lightweight, Durable, Well-built

This carabiner fits well in my hand, has a smooth gate mechanism for easy clipping, and looks good too (which of course is important). I snagged a couple of these for accessory use mostly and not so much to be load bearing, but I do have one on standby on my harness as a leaver-biner!

Great for alpine draws

I like to use these for the rope end of my alpine draws - the clipping action is really smooth which is nice. They are a little bit on the bigger side for a non-locking carabiner, but I like how sturdy they feel. Overall, a good choice so long as you aren't to worried about weight.

Great overall biner.

These carabiners are great. I use them as generic biners for my shoes and my harness. They are great. Quality is definitely visible. Easy to clip and they look just so good. Do yourself a favor and grab a couple.
