Why We Like The Helio Carbon 95 Ski
The Helio Carbon collection of backcountry skis consists of Black Diamond's lightest planks for alpine touring, and the Helio Carbon 95 Ski is the most versatile option we go for when it comes to skiing soft and hard snow. A 95mm waist places this ski in the middle of the Helio Carbon collection.
Its optimal balance in powder and firmer snow is further complemented by the camber underfoot and early rise rocker that initiates solid edge control down icy couloirs, and then surfs in deep pow. The Helio Carbon is made of light paulownia wood and a pre-preg carbon layup for increased stiffness at the lowest weight possible.

Backcountry Bliss
I've been on these for 4 days this season, and they are phenomenal under a variety of conditions. Light and lively on variable conditions and sublime in fresh powder. The biggest surprise was the lack of chatter and confident stability on frozen chunky crud. I am absolutely loving these skis. I am coming off of an older set of Elan Himalayas, and the feel and ease of the Helios are almost effortless. I downsized from a 102 to a 95 width, but almost no difference in the float factor. The skis are very light, and remarkably stable at speeds on hard pack and icy, windblown hellscapes. I paired these up with some Dynafit Radical bindings that I received for Christmas. I'm 6'1", 165 pounds and mid 50's in age and went with the 176s, so this set up and size specs were perfect for me. I have half a bad ACL on the left side, so I have to be weary and be slightly cautious at times. Light and strong gear is the way to go.

Quite Delighted
I work in the Snowsports industry but I am also a minimalist, and I wanted a pair of skis that I could use for both touring and the resort. I tested out a demo pair of these at a backcountry ski area in Colorado and really liked how they performed in variable terrain, how light they felt, and how comfortable they felt (I had tried out some other skis that were marketed as touring skis and were a little wider but they felt too heavy and were harder for me to control in the trees). I purchased a pair of these and put a pair of shift bindings on them and oh boy howdy am I pleased with my decision. I took them on groomers, powder runs, tree trails, off-piste, and in a super pipe just for fun and they were pretty versatile and felt pretty good in most situations. I have other skis that are slightly more narrow and are my daily drivers while I’m working at the resort, but I’m chuffed I found these for touring and free-ski days at the mountain. For reference- I’m 5’9” and 125 lbs and I got the 169 length

Minor cosmetic damage on shipping
Disclaimer I haven't skied on them yet. I got these for a touring set up combined with the fritschi tecton 13 bindings and they fit wonderfully together. Really a beautiful pair of skis. There were some minor cosmetic damage to the skis upon arrival from shipping. Other that that, amazing

Good work ski
These are great skis for my job. I have to hike or skin with tools, and a light ski saves my legs on the climb. They ski as I expected for a light ski.

Sweet touring rig!
Great skis that perform just as well in bounds as in the backcountry! Looking forward to many, many tours.
