Why We Like The Big Agnes Rapide SL Insulated Sleeping Pad

No matter where we decide to set our pack down for the night, the Big Agnes Rapide SL Insulated Sleeping Pad makes our backcountry bedroom feel like a 5-star hotel. Coming in a huge variety of sizes, there is sure to be a Rapide SL Insulated pad that works for everyone. The I-Beam construction cradles us to ensure we don't slide off in our slumber, and the quilted top is soft and comfortable to ensure we get the most out of our beauty sleep. Two layers of heat-reflective film provide plenty of warmth and ensure that the cold from the ground can't seep into our bones. No matter which size we opt for, the pads are all exceptionally light and pack down small, so we can save space in our pack and weight off our back.

We got Double Wide sleeping pad to match our King Solomon Double Sleeping Bag. It can be a bit narrow if you prefer to have space between you and your partner but is perfect if you like to cuddle. Don't get it if you plan to use with your friends. It's definitely not wide enough for two adults in separate sleeping bags. The included pump sack is huge and can fully inflate the pad in a matter of minutes. This pad is really thick! At the same time, even the Double Wide packs incredibly small and takes no space in your bag. I would recommend using a thin closed cell foam pad under it, if you want to increase the R value on really cold nights.

This pad is awesome. I upgraded from a Klymit that ive had for years and patched a few times. I wanted something with a little more cush. This is it. Only feels a bit heavier than the klymit. just a tad bigger when its packed. I tried the big agnes DIVIDE and the design isnt as comfy. I also got the Rapide wide version. The extra few incheds makes a big diference.

Started leaking after one night

I bought this pad for a big camping trip and after using it for one night, it stopped holding air. I happened to be in Steamboat where Big Agnes is based. I stopped in their store and they looked at the pad and told me that Backcountry sold me a sales sample, which is not the final product and is more likely to be defective. Backcountry’s return policy says they only accept undamaged, unused gear. My pad was used for one night and clearly damaged/defective so I didn’t bother trying to return it. I guess this is why it’s best to purchase directly from the manufacturer and not from a retailer selling samples at discounted prices - Big Agnes gave me store credit but couldn’t refund me since I didn’t purchase from them.

Not for people who move when sleeping

Standard

I used this Big Agnes pad for 4 nights. It gets 3 stars for comfort and 1 star for noise. If you shift positions at night - from back to your side or vice versa, this pad makes a lot of noise. It squeaks and makes a plastic rustling sound. Loud enough to wake up anyone else in the tent. Two of us had Big Agnes pads and you could hear the squeaking all through the night. It needs some kind of lightweight fabric liner. Or can’t they invent non- squeak plastic?

Very comfortable and does not sound like a potato chip bag when you roll around.

A slept on it the other weekend. With a Zen bivy bed. It was a amazing system. Comfortable with the big Agnes repide. I'm gonna buy it again for my girlfriend when she starts.
