They might have fur, but dogs enjoy feeling nice and toasty inside the tent like the rest of us, so we built them a dog sleeping bag with Petco. It features similar water resistance and warmth as our sleeping bags do, except it's appropriately sized for our pets. The interior is nice and soft, and we added a thermal reflective base for even more warmth. If their fur is warm enough on desert camping trips, we just unzip the bag and lay it out so they can use it as a sleeping pad.

great doggie sleeping bag for car camp
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Size Bought:
- L/XL
- Weight:
- 50
initially impressions are pretty good for this bag! i got the L/XL for my 50lb australian shepherd and it fits him with more than enough room to spare. my dog seems to enjoy hanging out on it as a sleeping pad/bed. i did zip it up around him, and he tolerated that, but not sure if he'd be into that for an all night situation. but the bag does fully unzip, and can easily drape over him for extra warmth on cold nights. pros: - fairly durable materials, he went at the outer shell with his claws for about a minute, and no shredding or loose threads yet! - reflective liner on one side, and fleece liner on the top, thick insulation - cozy and warm - the outer shell and reflective side are pretty drool resistant (i wouldn't put him in the bag wet, as the fleece top liner would soak up water) - carry sack - fully unzips to a large bed or blanket - can be used as a sleeping bag, bed, or bed with draped blanket cons: - massive! it's made from thick synthetic insulation - which is more durable and water tolerant, but very bulky, i wouldnt use this backpacking... - zipper does jam super easily - i think the reflective liner might shed some of its reflective dots, i'm noticing some imperfections in the material already, will likely get worse over time - but hopefully doesn't mean a tear in the fabric, just a loss of the reflective material.

Cheap and horrible zipper
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
This item arrives with threads hanging out everywhere. It is noticeably cheap material, made with little attention to detail. The zipper is frustrating to say the least. It snags repeatedly on every zip despite your best efforts. Takes a minute or two to get it zipped, and even harder when your pup is inside. If you plan on using this for more than a temporary dog mat, spend more and get something else.

Cheap zipper makes this unuseable
The zipper too easily catches the inner piping / seam and causes the zipper to jam. The zipper caught on the inner seam the first time I tried to zip this sleeping bag up. Even while trying to be conscientious of not gumming up the zipper with the inner seam, this poorly made zipper will catch and cause the zipper to jam

Cozy for camping adventu
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I was skeptical if my pup would actually get inside the bag (we’re still working on it), but what really sold me is that this bag fully unzips and turns into a plush travel mat. We’ve been taking it on the road with us everywhere the past two months and my pup seems to be a big fan! Pros: + insulated + cozy fleece lining to keep your pup warm + fully unzips to turn into a travel mat + high quality durable fabric + as a rescue pup owner, I love that a portion of sales go back to Mutual Rescue Cons: - I love the neon yellow color, but it’s only a matter of time before muddy paws make it very dirty (although it is water resistant!) - it’s a little too bulky for backpacking - maybe you could get a separate compression bag to cut the size, but my own sleeping bag gets way smaller for overnight adventures [I was given this product by Backcountry but this review is my personal opinion]
