x Black Diamond Hot Lap Glove

As Backcountry Gearheads, many of us earn our turns before the sun rises, and if we’ve learned anything about winter skiing when the sun isn’t up, it’s that dawn patrols in the backcountry are colder than any ski resort’s open hours. That’s why we teamed up with Black Diamond to make the Backcountry x Black Diamond Hot Lap Ski Glove for the skiers who earn their hot laps before work, and if it’s warm enough for dawn patrols, then it’ll surely keeps fingers toasty in-bounds, too.

Black Diamond built the Hot Lap’s shell out of durable goatskin leather—a suitable choice, considering our hircine mascot—and waterproof, windproof, breathable Pertex Shield for performance and protection specific to backcountry touring. The goatskin leather reinforces the glove for long-lasting durability while providing grip for skinning the steeps; the Pertex Shield sheds snow off the back of the glove’s hand, and it blocks breezes while allowing more moisture to pass through so the inside of the glove doesn’t get clammy just when the laps get hot.

The Hot Lap works seamlessly with all other products in our touring collection, especially the Backcountry x Black Diamond Skin Track Glove. While the Skin Track’s light, performance-oriented fabric gives that special touch of comfortable protection on the uphill, the Hot Lap provides the heavy-duty waterproofing and warm, fleecy insulation required for the downhill. One glove for going up; one glove for riding down.
