Why We Built The Backcountry Wasatch Adventure Hydration Bra
"I'm so pumped about this piece. There's nothing like it out there! It doubles as my sports bra and my hydration vest on my runs." —Gearhead® Expert Jo
The less layers the better when nature has the heat turned way up—our exact thought when dreaming up our Backcountry Wasatch Adventure Hydration Bra. The compressive stretch gives us the support we need, while the soft, wicking fabric feels cooling against our skin. We load the front mesh pockets and side envelope pockets with energy-boosting gels and stuff an emergency rain layer in the back pocket. As we stride singletrack, the pockets' stretch material minimizes bounce, the zipper's internal flap and garage reduce friction, and the convenience has us feeling light.

Almost a great purchase

I was really excited about the concept. I ordered an XS (I’m a 32A in most bras) so I figured it would be perfect! However, the bra seems to run smaller than the size chart suggests and the only available sizes they have left are XS (which is the one I got and is too tight) or L/XL. No way for me to exchange it for a S which I think would be ideal after trying on the XS. Not sure what to do with the one I purchased now. The concept seems great. The sizing and lack of size options available is really unfortunate.

Great!

So far I used it for a 10 and 12 mile run and it was comfortable even in the Texas 💯 degree weather and humidity. Wearing a hydration vest seems excessive for such short distances and am afraid of being too hot and water wooshing around when I run so this works great for me. I didn’t notice the neckline being too high to be bothersome as others mentioned. Also, I have like no boobs so I am not sure how it would work for someone with more volume since there would be no strap directly under your breast to hold them in place. The only support would be from the compression it self. I do wish they had more colors!

Fits very snug. Should size up if you want it to hold hydration bottles. Snug fit around neck. Still unclear what size or kind of bottles this vest would hold.

I have been running since 1998 and have tried every new bra, hydration pack (back, arm, hip, hand, etc…) and shorts. I got this specifically for my 2-3 hour excursions. I typically wear my ultimate direction hydration pack for all my trail runs just so I have a place to carry water/fuel and my phone. I also sometimes wear a belt to put my phone in. This bra was perfect for my shorter trail runs. I hate wearing a hydration vest when I know I only want about 8oz of water, my phone and my car key. I have put my iphone14 in both the front mesh chest pocket and the back pocket at the bottom band. The back pocket doesn’t have zippers but the phone stays put. I put it there when I know I don’t plan on taking it out for pictures, I just want to move fast. The smaller pockets were perfect for me and my GU chomps and ID. I read the other reviews about the high neckline but I didn’t notice that at all. Obviously if you pack everything into all the pockets it will become heavy, so for all day hikes I’ll stick to a true vest but for my hikes/runs that are only 1-3 hours in length, this bra is PERFECT. It allows me to pack the bare minimum and still feel light. Great for shorter trail races in the mtns when there aren’t a lot of aid stations but you want to have some extra water/fuel with you.

Not for Longer Trails
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I have used this a few times and it is pretty comfortable, but the pockets are all just a tad off for me. I would not recommend this for longer trail runs. I feel like this is better for mid to longer urban runs when you don't need to carry much of anything. The water bottle pockets are a bit high and the lid of my flasks sit right in my neck. Those pockets could fit a smaller phone, but mine was too large (a google pixel with case). It does not carry that much and if you need to put layers in the back pocket mid run you need a friend to help or strip mid trail (which I am not doing). You could stash a small jacket or layer in the back pocket before a run and access it pretty easy, but then if you want to take the jacket off you are putting it around your waist. The back poles pocket is also way to small for poles. and the side pockets are good for keys and a goo or two, but it would be a tight/ impossible fit for granola bars/ phone/ anything larger than a credit card. In terms of fit, I think it is super comfortable, but a bit hot in for warmer climates and agree with previous reviews that say the neckline is a bit high.

An excellent concept!

I bought this looking for an alternative to a vest for mid distance runs that I want to carry a little water and a few other things. I have one slight grip and that is that I wish the neckline wasn’t so high. As I started my run, I didn’t notice it but while o was driving and getting ready, I unzipped a bit. The material was great and the fit was snug so I do think that sizing is really important to make this work for you. I do think the price is excessive since it rivals that of high end packs but I bought it on sale and am pleased with it.

Three Things

Favorite things about this sports bra:
1) front zipper means no dislocating
a shoulder to get it on or off. 2) longline style means it plays very
nice with a heart rate monitor.
3) POCKETS.
