The high alpine town of Tabernash Colorado is the closest town to Devils Thumb Ranch, which we have long considered a mecca of nordic skiing and winter fat tire biking. When we built a jacket that would thrive during these activities we simply knew we had to name it the Tabernash Gore-Tex INFINIUM Full-Zip Jacket. This jacket utilizes GORE-TEX INFINIUM fabric to guarantee freedom of movement, excellent moisture control, and complete coverage from the weather so that we can set PR's or simply head out for an adventure on a storm day.

This is a nice jacket with clean crisp lines. It looks and feels great and for being made with Infinium it?s a great price!! The laser cut holes are a great feature as well!! If you plan on wearing any kind of mid-layer underneath it I highly recommend sizing up because it?s a slimmer fit.

Perfect mid-layer

My husband wanted a midlayer for backcountry skiing. I recommended this jacket and he's loved it so far. It's extremely versatile. He likes to use the neck gaiter tucked away in the back, and he loves the weight of it. It packs away pretty nicely and works well with other Backcountry stuff.

Great Shell for Active Winter Sports

This product was provided to me by Backcountry for testing but all the opinions in this review are my own. This jacket is a fantastic softshell for winter if you're into things like cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, or anything where you're working up a sweat in the cold. It's designed to work for active sports where you might need the extra ventilation but also benefit from a waterproof material. The jacket is made of GoreTex which is great to keep you dry from snow or rain but it also has a ton of venting options in case you get too hot. The best feature is the dual front zipper which has one option with vented holes that allows a nice breeze to come through and cool you off, or you can opt for the other zipper which will seal up it up to keep you warm. The jacket also comes with an integrated buff that tucks into the back of the collar. This is a really neat feature but unfortunately, it seemed a little too big which prevented it from staying up over my nose all that well. Also, because it is attached to the inside of the collar, it isn't easy to adjust and that's why I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5. I mostly just use my own buff if I need one and leave the other tucked into the collar. However, it is a nice option to have if you need it in a pinch and it stays out of the way if you aren't using it. Overall, I do really do enjoy this jacket and its going to get plenty of more use this winter. Its great for snowshoeing and the added vents are really enjoyable. The whole thing is made well and the materials are great quality. It should last me a while.

First Soft Shell

Seems like good quality overall. Back, sides, and underarms are NOT waterproof/Gortex, these sections are only fleece and will soak up the water. Fine for snow and light rain but definitely not heavy rain. Double front zipper is unnecessary and a pain to use and would rather have separate face covering, having it built into the collar is strange. Expensive for not being totally water proof, but decent deal if it's on sale.

After searching 8-10 websites trying to find the perfect soft shell jacket I finally found it. Not Northface, Patagonia, Mountain Hardware... the usual... but a gortex soft shell designed by Backcountry. Its the right weight, perfect fit and has features not found in other similar type soft shells. This one's a real winner. Thank you
