GREAT SHELL!

Size Bought:
M

Great shell bib! Burly Goretex material. functional as well, you can remove the upper part to make it just pants when the bib is not that necessary. so it's a package deal: pants+bib. length fits perfectly with the size M. can't wait for the snow season with this bib.

Good as a bib but not sure about pants

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Size Bought:
S and M
Height:

Weight:

This bid runs way too big. Bought a size M but had to return it for an S. This is a very good bib but probably not as a pair of pants and the reason is because of the waist fit. I don't have a small waist but the S is still too big and the velcro straps don't allow much adjustments. This product would be perfect if Backcountry can change how the waist area can be tightened. It will also be good if side pockets can be added. All in all, the material and quality are good.

I was a little nervous of trying these being a Backcountry brand but they’ve exceeded my expectations. I’ve used them during a mountaineering trip and for several days of snowboarding in both deep powder and nasty melty stuff. Super dry! Super good against wind. The functionality of the pockets, vents and the top zipping off is super great.

EXCELLENT PURCHASE!

I'm 5'7' and 150lbs. Bough size small and this bib is everything I dreamed about. The fit is great for me: loose enough to have full range of movement, but I like a more tapered look and these bibs look almost tailor made. So much storage! I can carry a soft side water bottle in the stash pocket, snacks, my phone, a walkie, and more. Bomb proof! No need for that powder skirt on the jacket while wearing these bad boys. Just charged through fresh pow days and stayed warm and dry all day long. Can't recommend these pants enough. If you are taller than me, get a size medium. These are the PERFECT length for me at 5'7, but they'd by short for anyone an inch taller.

Quality product

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it
Size Bought:
L

Looks like a quality product. I ordered an L, which was slightly too tight for me. So just ordered an XL instead. My only feedback for improvement would be to add a small hook to close the waist. Most ski pants have a small metal hook to close the waist. This ski bib only has 2 plastic buttons.

This year, I finally decided to learn how to ski. I grew up just an hour away from the Sierras but waited until now to finally learn how to ski. I haven't worn much ski gear, but I'm super happy with this bib and the Backcountry jacket I received. I fell plenty of times figuring things out and took a couple good hits, and nothing tore or failed. As far as sizing goes, I'm right in the middle of a large and extra large. For the bib, I went with the large and the fit is great. An XL might have worked a little better for length, but once I had ski boots on it was perfect. The zip off waist/bib portion is my favorite part. Super convenient for when nature calls. The build quality seems excellent, we were on the mountain when a storm rolled in and the water beaded up and rolled off the jacket and pants and I stayed nice and warm. I was given this product by Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion.

Good Bibs with One Flaw

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer
Size Bought:
XL

I wore these for a week skiing in Big Sky, MT. I thought the sizing was pretty true, as I'm a bigger guy and I'm used to bibs fitting more snug than other clothing items. I had several crashes and I never got wet and the bibs never took any damage. My *only* criticism is the zipper on the chest portion of the bibs. I'm not sure who designed these, but the zipper is not a locking zipper some may be used to. Considering this is the portion of the bibs that will be jostled and tugged on the most it seems like a locking zipper would be a no-brainer. Alas, any tugging on the upper portion will cause the zipper to slide open. There is a locking zipper on the portion that connects the "bib" part of the item to the pants, but it seems like someone decided it wasnt necessary on the bibs themselves. This small change could make these bibs amazing, but the frustration of having to zip them up in the chest every time I open my jacket is the achilles heel of a perfect product here.

Good bibs

Familiarity:

Received this for Christmas and I have about 15 days on it so far. First ever bibs. Material is heavy duty, but pretty quiet and feels good while moving. Fit and finish seems good, zippers work smoothly. We'll see how they hold up. I have other ski pants, so will probably never use these as pants. They fit a little big per size, but it works for me. I am not tall, but they might be a little short in the legs for someone taller. I get a little pinching under the arms due to the placement of the strap buckles and the width of the upper bib. Couple recommended improvements: 1. The leg pockets are great, but moving them a bit to the side of the legs (instead on front of leg) would be better for when the pockets are full and you are bootpacking or skinning. 2. I prefer outside leg vents to inside vents. Just seem to work better at dumping heat. These inside ones work ok.

Questionable quality

This may be one of the first reviews I've ever left on an item. To sum things up, the button on the waist popped off after the second time of me wearing them, which is making me question the quality of the pants. I'm trying to work with Backcountry on getting a new pair, but I understand it's been 30 days since the purchase date so now I need to go through the manufacturer. With that said, if this didn't happen, I'd likely give it a 4/5 rating. If I am unable to get a new pair, I most likely won't be buying anything from backcountry again.
