I want to like these pants, but the sizing is so off! I wear a size 34 but ordered a 36 and these bad boys barely fit my waist. However, my legs are swimming in these pants and I feel like I?m a backup dancer for MC Hammer. Backcountry?s clothing line seems to be winging it when it comes to proper sizing.

These fit pretty weird, but are solid if that works for you. I can fit into 28's and a 30 was barely good for me. They are also a tad baggy and long but the cord at the bottom of the legs fixes that. Still TBD on durability of cordura, but they have no rips yet after ~7 pitches of offwidths and chimneys!

I pretty much only wear Prana Stretch Zion pants but decided to check these out as an alternative. I mainly wear them for rock climbing but also in town. These fit true to size around the waist, so if you are used to vanity sizing they might seem tighter than expected. I have a 30? waist and the size 30 felt spot on, while my size 30 Prana Stretch Zion are baggy around the waist. At 5?8 the pants were just slightly too long but you can cinch the leg openings tight. I wear the 30 inseam in Pranas which is just right, it feels like these had maybe a 31 inseam. The material feels kinda odd, it?s very light, thin, and synthetic feeling, kind of like windbreaker material. In comparison the fabric on Pranas feels thicker and more robust. However the material is quite stretchy and the fit is very relaxed so these would be ideal for climbing movement. I haven?t climbed in them enough to know how durable it is. The built in belt can hook into various points, it felt more secure than the cinch strap on my Pranas which tend to loosen throughout the day, but harder to adjust quickly. The pants have a nice side pocket with zipper similar to Pranas, and a butt pocket with zipper. Overall these are a decent alternative to Pranas especially if you can pick them up on sale.

Great pants, go up a size in the waist

Really like these pants, lightweight and very comfortable. The only issue I had was that I normally am a 32 inch waist, but these were way too tight so had to go up to a 34 inch waist and fit fine. Would definitely recommend going a size up in the waist, length was as expected.

I love wearing pants while climbing to protect my legs and since I tend to climb when it's a little cooler and these are the perfect pair. Nice and stretchy so I can throw a heel hook or high foot when needed but still durable to take a beating when I inevitably fall or use a "very necessary" knee bar. The ladder hook waist strap is very nice to get the right size and fit easily, and adjust as needed. I also love the ankle drawcord so I can adjust if the ends come up a bit, or flow to my shoes as normal. They look nice enough to wear around town, and then work amazingly at the crag!

Im 6'0 185 lb, athletic build. I bought in 32 waist originally, which was about 4 inches to small. So I went up to a 36. The waist actually fit, but they were super baggy from crotch to calf at this waist size. These may work for someone with a really skinny waist, but its hard to imagine. The material, overall construction and pockets are really nice; so the poor sizing was a disappointment.

Great color and material, but...

Bought this for my boyfriend who is 6'0'' tall and weighs around 170 lbs. Almost all of his pants are size 32 by 32. I originally ordered the size 32 but he couldn't snap at the waist. I spoke to one of the Backcountry gearheads and she told me the Backcountry apparel does seem to run small, so she helped me order the size 34. The waist fit well but the width of the leg pant was way too wide. Looked like he was wearing UFO pants haha. The leg width of the size 32 was perfect...but for the 34, it was way too big. Had to return...too bad because we both love the color and the material and the fact there are drawcords for the ankles.
