The Hawx Ski Boot took the skiing community by storm last season, so Atomic made an entire collection of Hawx boots in various flexes, lasts, and specificities. The Hawx Ultra XTD 100 Alpine Touring Boot is a backcountry-specific Hawx boot with a narrower last and a softer flex suitable for lighter or less aggressive skiers. The shell's Prolite construction includes an Energy Backbone that maintains the boot's 100 flex overtime. Even more impressive is the Free/Lock 2.0 walk mode latch at the back that allows a massive 74° range of motion unlocked.
The Memory Fit 3D Silver liner has preshaped heel and ankle pockets, touring-specific flex zones, and thermo-moldable panels that provide customized comfort. This boot might weigh a bit under four pounds, which might be as featherlight as other skimo offerings, but it's light enough to get you up the mountain without feeling gassed before you reap your reward.
