The Backland UL 85 Ski is the widest option in Atomic's Endurance Touring Backland UL range and best serves those who prefer speedy alpine tours. Each ski boasts a rando-friendly weight of two pounds and offers better downhill performance than some of the skinnier skis in the Backland UL collection. This is mostly due to the 85mm waist that excels in the usual variable conditions you're going to find in the backcountry on any given day.
Atomic shaped the Backland UL with a rockered tip that enhances lift and turn initiation in softer snow, while camber underfoot assures proper edge control in firmer snow. The tip also features Atomic's new Slim AT Tip 2.0 that cuts through chop and crud. Atomic made the core out of an ultralight combination of carupa and poplar woods, and there are carbon laminates above and below the core to enhance strength without adding much weight. The Backland UL's Step Down Sidewall enhances stability and durability while still retaining the ski's ultralight mantra.
