Why We Like The Altra Lone Peak Hiker 2 Boot
Up for almost anything, the Lone Peak Hiker 2 tricks out Altra's most popular trail running shoe into a mid-cut hiking shoe that we can wear from the city to the summit. It features Altra's wide toe box and balanced cushioning beneath our heel and toes for a more natural stride and mid-foot strike. Lightweight with an over-the-ankle cut, it's trail-ready with aggressive traction and ventilating mesh that dries out quickly after rains and river crossings.

Good fit but quality and design issues
I have wide feet and bunion issues and these boots felt good and wore well on the trail. However after trying two sets of boots, both times lace hooks pulled out right out of the box. I contemplated keeping them anyway since I cannot find a lightweight hiker that accommodates my foot but could not justify spending the money on a defective product. Also, lacing and pulling on the boot was made unnecessarily difficult due to the lack of speed hooks for the last two lacings, like the Timp Hiker. The Timp was better constructed but did not fit my particular foot as well. Hopefully Altra will address the quality and minor design issues for an otherwise good shoe.

What happened to the wide toe box concept?
I sent the shoes back because they are way too tight and narrow. I have purchased approximately 10 pairs of size 13 Altras in the past 6 - 8 years and I have had to return the last two pairs back because the sizing has changed for the worst. Sadly, I guess I will have to look at other options. I used to recommend Altra to all of my friends and family.

The recent colorways are awful
The colorways released are not palatable or neutral enough to wear professionally. Please replace the weird splash of colors with more uniform or solid colors. The prior khaki was awesome, similar

Why Not Solid Brown for Military Use
If you had made these solid brown, they would be military-compliant for daily wear. Instead, you made an ugly weird color combo boot that no one bought and is on sale 50% off everywhere. Maybe Topo Athletic will capitalize on this.

Very reliable boot in the New Zealand bush
I was skeptical at first since the boot feels very flimsy but having hiked with them for almost a year in the New Zealand bush, they are still holding strong. Please don't change a thing, Altra as I would keep buying this model once the ones I have are knackered.

Broke when I laced them up the first time
One of the shoe lace "tabs" broke the first time I tried them on. I loved my previous 2 pairs of Lone Peaks, but these were a total disappointment.

Good but not as Wide
Not as wide as the regular lone peak shoes which is disappointing, they are good shoes those. I probably wouldn't buy them again. Hopefully the next gen are wider. They are still really good shoes for quality though.

Disappointment
The "eyelet tab" ripped away from the shoe the first time I attempted to lace them up. My previous pair of Lone Peaks were awesome; unfortunately, this pair wasn't built with the same quality standards.

My second pair - better than ever, fit just right.
I replaced my well worn Lone Peak Hikers with Long Peak Hiker 2: Same size, great fit. Like the wide toe box and firm sole. Also seems like better bend at the toe base. Improved lacing system for easier tighten-up. I like the high-top for extra ankle support.
