Broke in 60km
Bought at a good price and only able to hike the Camino in Spain after the warranty expired. Brand new, but no warranty, went on the hike. Third day, 60km after, the laces webbing came off. Really??? This is my first (and last). Now I have a paperweight.

The shoe that your feet have been dreaming of
The most impressively comfortable and reliable shoe you will ever wear. I have struggled with comfortable footwear my entire life. Since college I have worn 15W or 16 (if 15W wasn't available), but no shoe has ever felt completely comfortable while allowing proper room for my toes. The Altra Lone Peak shoes are unmatched. Has a way more natural shape of the foot than other shoes, and the toe box creates the most comfortable space possible for your toes. Surpassed all of my expectations.

From a non runner - love em
And now for something completely different. My running days far behind me. 5' 11" and 280 with very wide feet. I have tried Brooks - Beast, New Balance, etc. This is the best fitting shoe i have had in ages. Fir when my wide Chacos are a no go i use these. I do a lot of field work on and around water and these have been great. Tl;dr great even for the non runner

I'm a daily Rucker and a raving fan of these shoes!
I wear these rucking 15-20 miles every week and am ordering my second pair after a year so I can start breaking them in. Love them!

Excellent Customer Service!
My Lone Peak 4's blew out after 1 week on Vermont's Long Trail. I was not happy! Altra customer service sent a new pair of LP 5's out immediately. Only problem was that they would not send to a post office on my route. I ended up buying a different pair of shoes to continue the LT. I started using the new LP5's as bike packing shoes this summer. So far they are holding up great! I find the design of these to be a good improvement over the LP4's.

Tired of shoe companies changing yearly

I’ve owned multiple pairs of the lone peak 4s and 4.5’s and loved them. Not sure what they did with the 5 but these kill my feet. I get a lot of foot pain just walking in these. If run in them I can barely walk the next day. I’m getting really tired of shoe companies changing up their models ever year to feed consumerism. If a shoe sales well leave it alone. Very unsatisfied with this model.

Want to try other Altra products too, but yes.
Did a lot of up and downs. mainly on road but also some on trail and switching to zero drop was the right choice. It of course need to be done in steps, but I do believe I am physically better because of it. These LP5 lasted me for a year. I ran 1500km this last year (a bit more than 900 miles) If I'd force myself I could still get out more but it's about time to switch. Starting next month I'll try out the Olympus 5, because why not. Downside with these shoes? I had none besides maybe the design and if you are in the situation of muddy rocks slippage - not quite sure how well other should would be able to cope with that though.. The wide toe box is great. With improper lacing the downhill sometimes gave some slipping - user error. Very satisfied and would buy the LP6 but don't know the Altra lineup enough so going to try the Olympus next. Altra, great job on delivering a shoe that delivers.

Lone Peak 5: the last of a great line of Lone Peaks IMO.
I've owned the 3, 3.5, 4 and now I now own three 5s. I did this not because I think the 5s are the best. I did this because Altra removed the gaiter ring at the base of the laces in the 6s. Now you hook your gaiter clip to the laces. Oddly the gaiter ring remains on the Olympus, but it appears there's no Velcro tab on the Olympus. What's up with that? My favorite Lone Peak was the 4. It's wider in the toes, the heel pull is slightly more substantial, but the 5s have a slightly larger Velcro tab and a tongue pull (which is worthless because it's too small). I strictly buy these shoes because they're designed to attach a gaiter. The toe box is the second reason. Sorry Altra you blew it in regard to the Lone Peak 6 and lost a customer, until you figure out how special the previous versions were, specifically the 4s

Great performance but can't handle "all types of trails"
The shoes are light, good traction and perform well but with less than 2 months of use it's already falling apart. Very disappointed with low durability. Misleading marketing.

Fell Apart after a few months
- Size Bought:
- 11.5
I used these shoes a few times a week on mostly fire roads and these shoes split on both feet on both sides where the feet meet the toes. I have never had a shoe fall apart after a few months. They were fun while they lasted but they did not last long
