Why We Like The Koda 2 Tent

The ALPS Mountaineering Koda 2 Tent—inspired by their best-selling Taurus tent —provides us with a fully-featured, high-quality shelter for backpacking and camping trips. What sets the Koda apart from the Taurus is its half mesh walls that keep us comfortable through muggy summer nights, while the full-coverage fly keeps everyone protected from late spring rain showers. ALPS coated and factory seam-sealed the fly and floor to further enhance weather protection to keep us, along with our friends and our gear, dry. The lightweight poles, quick assembly, and roomy vestibules make the tent an easy choice when you arrive at the campsite after the sun sets.

Big Ben Approved!

Size Bought:
2 person

Purchased this Alps Koda 2 tent for a week long stay at Big Bend National Park. It withstood the brutal gusty winds. It was very roomy for me and I loved the little extra height (was a little skeptical that it might not withstand the winds) it was also the first tent I’ve ever had that had 2 entrances with rain fly vestibules which came in very handy. Love this tent!

Completely satisfied

I didn't see the directions until the 3rd time I set it up and never took longer than 5 minutes. Recently spent a camping weekend getting rained on and everything inside stayed dry as a bone. Wouldn't hesitate to buy again

Good overall tent, great value

This is my first tent, I have used it couple of times so far and I like it. Enough space for 2 persons and vestibules come in very handy too keep your gear close and dry. I have used this tent in cold weather and I think its better for colder temperatures. Compared to other tents I've looked at, this tent has less mesh and it will probably keep more heat during the summer. Only thing is this tent is on heavier side and trail weight written here, 5lb 2oz is too low and expect to it be at least a pound heavier on your trips. Good tent overall, for a great price. my friends liked it too.

No better tent for the money.

I backpack 3-5 times a year mostly in Appalachia. Perfect for short backpacking trips. I'm 6'6" and there was plenty of room in it for myself and my gear. Love the design of the vestibules for keeping gear stored outside of the tent dry and covered. Set up couldn't be easier.

Great lightweight tent

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it
Size Bought:

This tent is lightweight and very easy to put up. The room inside is a bit cramped for two averaged sized adults with a queen air mattress... it would be perfect for one adult and one child. There is really nothing bad I can say about this tent other than it was a bit small for my needs. I would recommend this without any hesitation, but first layout out the footprint to make sure it's enough room for your needs. I had to return and get a larger tent (3-4 person) as I like to keep my belongings in the tent at night.

Alps Mountaineering Koda 2

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer
Size Bought:

I have used this tent with a footprint in the Eastern Sierras and the Ruby mountains. During this time it has seen many normal conditions, and been in freezing temps well above 9500 feet. This tent has been in some extremely windy and rainy conditions that tore apart other tents. This tent is built well and is solid in the wind when all guy lines are utilized, I use 12 pegs total. I have updated the pegs but feel this is normal to do. The fly is easy to put on as it buckles to the tent body. It has a removable screened loft that will hold small items or a light. The bag is well built with compression straps. It is on the heavier end for a backpacking tent, which is the reason for only 4 stars. But I have enjoyed the extra room and durability, whether i'm by myself or have one of the kids.

I have many expensive tents was trying to get my buddy into camping for a low cost this thing is pretty light and very durable materials also the bag has compression straps just as good or better then competitors for 3 to 4x the amount would highly recomend.
