Gearhead Picks: Backcountry Canyonlands Jacket

Welcome to Gearhead Picks! I’m Ashleigh McClary, a Backcountry Gearhead, and I’m here to talk to you about one of my favorite pieces for the spring, our very own Backcountry Canyonlands Wind Jacket.  One of the reasons I love this jacket is because it was designed here at Backcountry with input from Gearheads like me! After trying hundreds of jackets, it’s safe to say we know a thing or two about what makes a perfect wind jacket.

Guys, don’t worry. This jacket comes in a men’s version too. 

I recommend this jacket to anyone who is looking for packable protection from wind and light rain. It weighs nothing, tipping the scales at just 4 ounces. It’s made from a breathable material and has venting which makes it a great addition to high-aerobic adventures like hiking, mountain biking and running. 

I use it for hiking because it barely takes up any room in my pack and it’s always good to be prepared when an unexpected storm blows in. 

It even packs into its own pocket so you have no excuse not to take it everywhere with you!

The Canyonlands Jacket has a regular fit so it works well over a midlayer on chillier days. For context, I’m 5’4″ and wear a size XL.

This jacket is full of technical features, like a shock-cord hem to keep the wind out, reflective cuffs to keep you visible in low light, and a side pocket that’s perfect for trail snacks.
