Nice entry insulation layer

Nice entry into insulation layer. Found the outter material to be a little stiff for my taste and sizes run big, so I upgraded for the Approach Down BD layer.

Average materials and craftsmanship for price

For a 700 fill goose down the baffling dimensions make the shoulder loft unable to adequately keep in heat at even 45 degrees F. The zipper is loud and not smooth feeing compared to similar products. The fit is comparatively large in the waist for a Medium making the annoying and breakable bungee drawstring necessary to keep heat in. You could leave the upper waist dimension the same but taper it in at the bottom… Initial fabric water repellency is adequate. This is all compared to same caliber brands like Patagonia and Marmot. This puffy is fine for the price, just not good.

I wanted to like this jacket but it did not do it for me. The sleeves are too long and there is hardly any elastic on the cuff. So it just droops over my hands. They need to put a real Velcro closure on the cuffs. I also found the jacket too light and not warm enough for my needs in cold weather here in Northeast. This is more a mid layer. I have an excellent Black Diamond Shell but this jacket disappoints.

Excellent fit and comfortable warmth!

This is one of the best men's down hoodies on the market. The fill is thicker than most, but the cut of the fit doesn't make you look like the Michelin Man.

Perfect for a Peruvian Pilgrimage!

I needed a warm mid-layer coat for our trip to Peru - the Access Down Hoody was it. I was looking for the warmth of a sleeping bag but needed it to be packable and fit under my waterproof Shell jacket. This jacket did it all. It was super warm when I needed it, especially at night while sleeping in a mountain hut. It has an amazing front top pocket that is easily accessible with another layer on top. I love that the hood keeps my neck and head warm, and keeps the wind away. This is one great down puffer, great work Black Diamond.

I really like the build quality and feel of this jacket, but it was too big in almost every regard. I'm 6'2 and 226 lbs. and the XL hung off of me. For sanity, I compared sizing against another puffy I own, also an XL. Had I known, I would have stepped down the size to a large.

Great Fit!

This jacket is true to size, roomy, comfortable, and warm. I'm looking forward to testing it during the winter month while moving in the mountains.

The jacket seems great, but both man and my wife’s fit really big. The sizing charts matched our normal sizes, but the jackets are a full size too big.
