Why We Like The Salomon Techamphibian 5 Water Shoe
Like the Red-Spotted Newt, we live our lives as both water dwellers and land dwellers. That's why we like Salomon's Techamphibian 5 Water Shoe for our amphibious lifestyles. The outsoles offer traction for both trails and river bottoms while the toe cap protects us from stubs and sharp debris. The synthetic mesh lining gives us some foot protection from rocks, pebbles, glass, and vegetation while draining water and drying quickly if we get drenched hiking waterfalls, wading a river with our flyrod, or paddling our kayak. It's a summer staple for those of us who play in the water and on land.

Hybrid shoe!water, hike & casual
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Size Bought:
- 8.5
I recently started kayaking but I'm a hiker first. I wanted something that would be great for kayaking but still have a great trail shoe. At first I was a bit upset to find they were loose fitting even when I sized down. I'm somewhere between an 8.5 and 9. Wearing a 9 in Hoka shoes, 9.5 in hiking boots and 8.5 in dress shoes. However, they turned out to be perfect for being able to wear in the water and for casual wear with socks. I knocked one star because I do wish the extra space was in the toe box instead of the heel. I had to tighten the back strap almost all the way. I do wonder if I should have sized down an entire size, but at that point maybe Solomon should consider reexamining their sizing conventions. Either way, great comfort and I feel like they are very well made.

Wowzers!
I already loved Salomon shoes especially their hiking shoes with Gortex. Saw these and thought I’d give them a try. Boy, am I glad I did! These shoes are awesome. As soon as they arrived I used them to pressure wash my house. I felt safe and secure while climbing up and down a wet ladder. They are lightweight, super comfortable, and dry quickly. I’m also thrilled with the color. The only concern I have is if they will be stinky since they will be wet often and I am wearing them without socks. I will update this review once I find out how they hold up after frequent use. I hope Salomon will make more of these shoes in different colors. They are my new favs! I highly recommend you get a pair. You won’t be disappointed.

Too big
I own multiple Salomon in the same size and was SO excited for the tan/coral combo that I ordered them the same. They ended up being .5 maybe 1 size too big and unfortunately, of course, I can't exchange because they're now sold out :(

Sizing Problem - Shoe too big
I have always loved my Salomon shoe/runner/boot. I have a narrow foot and find that Salomon typically accommodates the issue for me. I typically say this was the best money i have spend on footwear. I however needed to return this item. The Shoe was too large, I debated keeping them, thinking, well in the summer my foot swells. I walked around my house and come to the conclusion I would have to size down 0.5 or possibly a whole size. One thing I did note on the product was, usually EU Size 40 is a US Size 9-9.5. When did the EU Size 40 equal a US Size 8?

Runs big
I am excited to try these for a Grand Canyon rafting trip. I normally wear 6 in running shoes, keen sandals and 5.5 dress shoes. I first ordered the size 6 and they were too big. Size 5.5 seems to fit properly. There is room so you don’t jam your toes and you could wear some some thin socks if you wanted. For my husband, his normal size fit perfectly. They are def not narrow.

Great shoes, but wrong size chart
These are great shoes, but there is something wrong with a size chart (yes, in 21st century manufacturer cannot measure their shoes properly). My wife's foot length is 24 cm. According to the size chart that's 7.5 US. It was huge. Almost 1 inch extra space. Changes to 7 US. It's still huge. 0.7 inch of extra space. Going to order 6.5US, which is 23cm according to the chart. And she still will have about 0.5 inch extra.

Cute, practical water shoes
Need a pair for a trip I’m taking to the tropics where I want to do some hikes, swims, and other excursions. Comfy on first try but will see how they hold up.

Great water shoes
Used them for kayaking. The sand is quite hard to remove but I really like them overall. Very breathable. It runs a bit big but I adjusted them and they are ok.
