Why We Like The Yeti ASR T3 X0 Transmission Carbon Wheel Mountain Bike
Back after a short hiatus, the Yeti ASR has been redesigned and is faster than ever to reclaim its throne on the XC podium. Yeti pulled out all the stops with the ASR, making it the lightest full-suspension bike they have ever produced and implementing their updated Flex Stay suspension system for unrivaled pedaling efficiency and small bump sensitivity. Designed around a push shock setup, a linear progression rate, and a custom-tuned RockShox SidLuxe 3-position rear shock, the ASR can sprint and climb efficiently while still being able to use all of its travel on the way down to meet the demands of modern XC courses. In designing the ASR, Yeti ensured the lightest possible frame by using a unique carbon layering process to maximize strength and stiffness on key areas of the frame while removing excess weight without sacrificing strength. Furthering the weight savings, size-specific carbon layups optimize frame stiffness and the strength-to-weight ratio for every size frame, and a refined rear axle and suspension linkage reduce excess weight to give us an incredibly lightweight frame, weighing in at just over four pounds with the rear shock. The ASR is equipped with a 66.5-degree head tube angle for the best balance of precise handling and steeper terrain capability, while the forward-biased position of the front triangle ensures an evenly weighted bike for agile handling. The low bottom bracket height provides incredible stability and traction through corners, and the efficient 75.5-degree seat tube angle has our back on technical climbs. Finishing off the ASR are two water bottle mounts inside the front triangle, tubed internal cable routing with dedicated suspension lockout routing, an integrated rear mud fender, integrated downtube protection that doubles as a cable access door, an integrated and optional chain guide, and a SRAM UDH derailleur hanger.
The T3 X0 Transmission Carbon Wheel build of the new Yeti ASR houses some of the most advanced components on the market. To start out, Yeti's premium TURQ carbon frame offers us a lightweight and stiff frame for precise control on singletrack. SRAM's X0 Transmission drivetrain ensures smooth and accurate electronic shifting, a wide 10-52-tooth range, and a near-bombproof design for performance on the trails. RockShox Ultimate suspension takes this build to a new level, supplying us with the SIDLuxe Ultimate rear shock for race-ready, lightweight performance and the SID Ultimate 120mm fork to handle bigger hits as we race to the bottom. Both the fork and shock are connected to SRAM's TwistLoc grips so we can flip between open, pedal, and lockout compression settings on the fly without taking our hands off the bars, and the frame has dedicated cable routing for the suspension lockout cables. Upgraded DT Swiss XRC 1200 carbon wheels transform this ride and give us a race-ready wheelset outfitted with DT Swiss's most advanced hubs for premium performance all over the mountain. This build is topped off with welcome features like a Fox Factory Transfer SL dropper post, SRAM Level TLM brakes with upgraded Centerline X rotors, and a carbon fiber Race Face handlebar for podium-worthy performance from day one.
*Due to a high demand in the global supply chain and bike industry since the start of the pandemic, material weight and exact components are subject to change. We are working diligently to keep tech specs updated, and any adjustments will be of equal or better spec level.
