Why We Like The Santa Cruz Nomad CC X0 Eagle Transmission Reserve Mountain Bike
From sending it down chunky descents and lapping our favorite downhill trail loops, we love the Santa Cruz Nomad for its monster truck capability, mixed-wheel design, and efficient suspension platform. With 170mm of VPP suspension, the Nomad is a long-travel beast that can handle almost anything you can throw at it. Proportional chainstays and seat tubes allow for a frame with the perfect pedaling position and stability no matter what size frame we have. A slack 63.8-degree head tube angle gets our front wheel far ahead of us on descents for maximum stability, and a steep seat tube angle averaging 77.7 degrees gets us upright and over the pedals for efficiency when climbing. The mixed-wheel design allows for the best of both worlds, giving us rollover capability with the 29-inch wheel up front and a playful and agile back end with the 27.5-inch wheel in the rear. With a Flip Chip in the shock link, we can make the Nomad even slacker and lower for extra confidence taming double black diamond trails or bike park sessions. An integrated Glovebox frame storage allows us to keep our essential ride items in the downtube of the bike, allowing us to ditch the backpack, and an integrated downtube protector, chainstay protector, and shuttle guard protect our frame from damage.
The X0 Transmission AXS Reserve build of the Santa Cruz Nomad features Santa Cruz's best frame and some of the best components on the market. Santa Cruz's Carbon CC frame utilizes the best carbon fiber available to give us the stiffest, lightest and strongest frame possible. SRAM's X0 Transmission AXS drivetrain is the latest in electronic drivetrain technology and sports flawless shifting under load, a durable and replaceable design, and an overload clutch that can move out of the way to protect the derailleur motor in a crash. For a race-worthy wheelset, Santa Cruz threw on some Reserve 30HD rims paired with Industry Nine 1/1 hubs, giving us a super lightweight, reliable, and capable wheelset. RockShox's Ultimate line provides top-tier suspension performance, with the Zeb Ultimate up front sporting 170mm of travel and tons of adjustments and the Ultimate in the rear soaking up the big hits with ease and giving us a comfortable and plush ride. Finally, Maxxis Assegai and Minion DHRII enduro tires provide tons of traction and bite to instill confidence on the rowdiest of descents.
*Due to a high demand in the global supply chain and bike industry since the start of the pandemic, material weight and exact components are subject to change. We are working diligently to keep tech specs updated, and any adjustments will be of equal or better spec level.
