Why We Like The Santa Cruz Hightower C S Mountain Bike
Back and better than ever, the new Hightower has a list of updates to take its capability to new heights. Santa Cruz ramped up the Hightower's travel to 150mm of VPP rear suspension, now standing alongside the Bronson asa dedicated 29-inch option in the aggressive trail/enduro category. Another major change in the Hightower is the revised VPP suspension pivot placement and kinematics, offering us a more plush ride for more traction all over the mountain. The Hightower has a slacker head tube angle and longer chainstays across all sizes, effectively making the bike longer and shifting our weight bias more towards the center of the bike for a more balanced ride and more stability in steep terrain. The Hightower still sports its dual 29-inch wheels for maximum traction and rollover capability and its threaded bottom bracket and UDH configuration for durability and easy replacements. The finishing features for the Hightower include chainstay and downtube protection, Glovebox internal frame storage, a geometry flip chip, and silent internal cable routing.
The Santa Cruz Hightower S build is optimal for combining quality components and an attractive price point. First up is Santa Cruz's Carbon C frame, which utilizes quality carbon fiber for stiff handling and islight but durable. The Fox Performance Float X rear shock keeps our rear tire locked to the ground, while the Performance 36, 160mm fork cushions us on rowdy descents and offers a simple set-and-forget performance. SRAM's GX Eagle drivetrain equips us with a proven and reliable drivetrain and a big gear range, while we roll onRace Face AR 30 aluminum rims paired with DT Swiss 370 hubs for a premium aluminum wheelset that can be easily upgraded for higher engagement. Maxxis DHF and DHRII tires throw down the grip we need for aggressive riding, and the SRAM DB8 Stealth brakes equip us with simple but very powerful brakes paired with HS2 rotors for massive stopping power.
*Due to a high demand in the global supply chain and bike industry since the start of the pandemic, material weight and exact components are subject to change. We are working diligently to keep tech specs updated, and any adjustments will be of equal or better spec level.
