Wore them today for the first time around our property and while in Buena Vista, CO. These are great shoes. Not heavy. Fit well. Very stable. Love the quick lace system which saves me having to replace my laces with a system that doesn't loosen/tighten as well as these do. I'll be getting another pair.

X Ultra 4 GTX, comfortable when dry
I’ve worn these over a dozen times since buying them last month. Overall quite pleased; they are a good fit and comfortable. However, one of the reasons I chose these is their waterproof spec. Half an hour into my 3mile morning walk in persistent rain I could feel my feet getting wet. The uppers are made of Goretex yet they succumbed to heavy rain in 30mins.

Great shoes
I'm hard on shoes. For a pair of shoes to last me a year is impressive. Plus they are comfortable to boot.

More money for less quality
I had better luck with the older models of this shoe. The latter iterations of this shoe just doesn't hold up. It's alot of money for a so-so nothing special pair of shoes. I'm actually back to wearing the Brooks beast for walking. I bought a heavier walking shoe for tougher terrain but I probably haven't worn them enough to plug them either way. XULTRA still a comfortable shoe but newer models just doesn't hold up.

Perfect shoe
This is one of the best shoes I've ever put on. It's comfortable, light and feels great. I've bought this and Spreedcross 6's recently and I'll forever were Salomons from now on.

Hiking in X Ultra shoes
This is my third pair of x ultra hiking shoes. Comfort and the protection provided by the soles are the main factors in my preference for this shoe.

Solid premium all year hiker
I came from the Ultra 3 after finding them on my quest for the ultimate hiker all round year shoe. Winter, water, rocks, ice, hot, cold. There has been others but over the years the choices kept getting cut back from other companies. Happy to have found the Ultra. Some reviews has mentioned slight changes to the design from the 3 to 4. I did notice such change. Being a hair more narrow feeling but not enough to stretch into and still a nice feeling fit. Sad the 4 didnt have a leather option like the 3. For stretch or longevity. But shouldnt matter besides preference. Testing the shoe compared to my old one for ice traction on ice under worst conditions, fresh melting ice covered in water, and brand new show maybe with a coating making it smoother for a few walks, the 4 only feels slightly less grippy to my 3. Well within justifiable. And falling isnt a risk. Just a little bit less resistence until the larger "teeth" grip something. Still very happy and close to my 3. And the differences might just fill in over time.
