Why We Like The Salomon Thundercross GORE-TEX Trail Running Shoe
When the trail is wet and muddy, we cinch on the Salomon Thundercross GORE-TEX Trail Running Shoe for the day's miles. The breathable membrane stops muck and rain from seeping in, while the lacing cage hugs our midfoot to keep our feet locked over the platform. As we bound over rocks and stride through mud puddles, the generous stack of foam underfoot pads the ground and energizes our toe-offs for a flow-inducing ride. No matter what stands in our way, the sticky, well-spaced lugs solidify our footing and release debris throughout every stride to ensure biting traction with our every strike and push off.

The tongue on these shoes is too short
The tongue on these shoes is too short. This appears to be a basic design flaw. It does not matter if the shoes are laced tight or loose. After only a few minutes of wear, the tongue on both shoes will slide forward so that it is forward of the top of the shoe, and so that the top row of laces are now against your foot instead of against the tongue. On the bright side, it appears that Salomon is not going to give me any problems returning the shoes.

the shoe does not fit like other Solomon shoes.
Bought the shoes a month ago. I tried to stretch out the insole and they are basically unusable. Tried to give them away and wouldn’t fit my son’s feet either. I owned many pair of Solomon shoes and have never had a problem. These are garbage.

Holding up well and fully waterproof
Currently wearing my ThunderCross GoreTex on a three week trip through Europe. Rain= no problem Mud= no problem easy clean-up= no problem. I only brought one pair of shoes for the trip and they are proving to be the only shoe I need. Even wore them on the sacred Omaha beach. Happy with this purchase.

Unreal all weather sneakers
These are truly the all weather and winter sneakers I’ve always needed. I live in subzero weather for half the year and these are amazing. Super comfortable and the grip is just the best. I’ll likely be buying a few colorways of these. Truly great shoe!

cross between speedcross and ultra glide
these shoes are great from the wide toe base to snug fit around my foot to the cushion soles. I would say these combine the speedcross to the ultra glide. great shoes. So much so I bought a non water prop par too.

These are the best Salomon shoes I've purchased to date and I've owned 10 or so pairs over the years. Great fit and I have a slightly wide foot, they are not narrow like the one review states! Super waterproof and outstanding grip in any condition. Since they are GorTex, they might be a bit warm for summer months so I'll use these for 3 seasons out of the year. Go out and get yourself a pair, you won't be disappointed!

Great everyday shoes; run narrow
I bought these shoes to have a Goretex shoe for walking around the city in the rain/snow but that could also be used for hiking/trail running. I've worn them pretty much every day since I bought them, using them in rain, snow, mud, etc., and they've been perfect. They feel surprisingly light. Even with the boxy design (which I like) and the treads, I don't really notice them. Granted, Im used to wearing boots, but I don't feel like these are much heavier feeling than the speedtrax or other similar shoes. The treads are surprisingly discrete. I don't feel them at all while walking, and they helped me stop from slipping on ice. They're large enough to be helpful but don't take away from the ability to wear them as a daily walking shoe. Only "complaint" is that they're really narrow and take a while to break in. I ordered a half size up and prob could still to a size up because they're very, very narrow. I pretty much can't tighten them down at all or they suffocate my feet. It also took a solid two weeks to break the sole in, but it's comfortable now

Excellent quality and arch support
I always need a pair of Salomon trail running shoes in my closet. Every new pair is better than the last pair even though the last pair was 5☆. I need arch support to wear shoes frequently. Salomon shoes give me that support right out of the box! No need for inserts. I like the trail runners for comfort, looks, durability and they are waterproof! This is my third pair over the last 10 years. They start out as my go to shoes and finish their life as my around the house comfort shoe. I particularly like the special laces that tuck into the top of the tongue leaving a clean look with the laces stored away. If you need light weight hikers with arch support Salomon trail runners are the best! Get some! You won't regret it!

Cush without the Mush and Better Grip
The Salomon UltraGlide has been my go-to mountain ultra trail shoe for the past year or so. Love the balance of cushion and stability (cush w/o the mush), but was wanting more grip. When the Thundercross came along, I was excited to give them a try as they have similar cushioning specs. I've been using my Thundercross GTX on snowy trails with and without running snowshoes in the High Rockies of Colorado and they're exactly what I'm looking for. Comfortable level of cushioning, mild rocker shape and an adequately roomy toebox, which provides amble wiggle and swell room for my average width feet. Love them so far and look forward to putting many trail miles on them!

Great Waterproof All around shoe
These have been great for hiking in the slush and snow. I have not had the chance to go running in them yet due to weather- but they feel very comfortable walking and hiking and definitely more cushioning than some previous Salomon shoes I have had. Fit is great- plenty of toe box width- no odd sensation of heel drop or forward propel- very solid and stable platform.
